Will the G5 ever get another invite if the format sticks to 4?

If getting throttled in the semifinal is going to be their justification for never putting one in again, then they need to never put these 20+ point losers in again either.

2014 Florida State (39 point loser)
2015 Oklahoma (20 point loser) Michigan State (38 point loser)
2016 Ohio State (31 point loser)
2018 Notre Dame (27 point loser)
2019 Oklahoma (35 point loser)
2020 Clemson (21 point loser)

And there were a couple of 17+ point losers that were just as bad or worse than some of the 20+ point ones.
Nebraska could keep it close lol.

Cincy is beating Bama. Book market.

The new B12 can't be any worse than the PAC. The teams in the new B12 have more ranked OOC wins this year than the Pac-12.
I think this year that's the case, I don't think that will be the case if you average everything out over the next decade or two.

Yup, and no pressure or anything, but if two SEC teams meet in the final this year they are going to keep getting the benefit of the doubt.
Alabama is literally good for one thing to the rest of us....and it's beating the shit out of teams like Cinci who have no business taking a playoff spot.

Oklahoma State, Iowa State, K-State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, adding BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF. Kansas is the only awful fotball program. 5 of the future Big Xii teams are ranked in the Final CFP Ranking (3 in the top 10) compared to 6 total by the ACC and Pac-12 combined.

that is a false comparison. you cant say well their ranked now in the AAC so that means the Big XII is better. they got ranked playing lesser opponents and going undefeated or 1 or 2 losses. put them in the BigXII and the records change. and if they didnt that means some one elses did.

The main problem is the top G5 programs keep moving into the P5. It’s possible depending on what happens around the country but not very likely

I agree mostly with this, but Cincy did beat Notre Dame. Who else in the current BIG XII has a win like that except Oklahoma State and Baylor? Not all the teams @78Cyclones listed are AAC teams, and also BYU beat all the PAC 12 teams they faced including Rose Bowl bound Utah. I feel like what was stated above is pretty true, but wins over Notre Dame and Utah is pretty good for some lowly G5 teams.

you miss the math.
houston, cinci, byu, okst, baylor all ranked. do they stay ranked when they play each other? are games with 7-5 ECU and 6-6 tulsa to be viewed with equal weight as 7-5 Iowa state and 6-6 West Virginia?
Houston: ranked. 1 loss in the regular season. are we ignoring the loss was to Big XII member 9th place 6-6 overall 3-6 in conference Texas Tech who lost their coach mid season but after beating Houston.
BYU ranked one of their losses was to Baylor so would they also lose to Oklahoma State? would they beat Cinci? Houston? Iowa State and stay ranked?

They threw Cinci a bone this year, mostly because of how the cards fell. Had Oklahoma St not lost, and had #5 been a P5 team at 11-1 who didn't lose to Cincy, I think they get bumped again. Now that they play Alabama and will likely get throttled, will the committee ever put another G5 team in the playoff again (assuming we stay at 4 spots for the next few years)? I think they'll use this year to justify never putting them in again.

if baylor didn't lose to TCU.....

Oh I agree. We will have to see. But along with a team losing to Oklahoma State. Almost every team that played the Pokes lost to them. Same goes for Baylor, most teams that played them lost to the Bears. I will say that wins and losses matter, but I also feel that if teams can play the teams close, it matters. It matters that you aren't getting blown out every week for these new joining teams. Texas leaving for the SEC and they blow the doors off Texas Tech and then lose to Kansas? I think Cincy vs BYU would have been great this season and Houston vs BYU also. Man, could you imagine Baylor and Cincy having to face each other near the end of the season with a possible CFP appearance on the line?

I just looked this up: "According to early reports, there will be an East division and a West division. West Virginia will join Cincinnati, UCF, Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State in the East. The West division will include Texas Tech, BYU, Oklahoma State, Baylor, TCU and Houston".

that makes sense. 2 new with 4 old in each division

I feel just by looking at it, that west division looks pretty competitive.
i would give the west a bit of a nod with Ok st, baylor byu and houston contingent on them maintaining.
but cinci ucf and iowa state are a solid start if UCF and Iowa state can get back what they had before this season.

I think this year that's the case, I don't think that will be the case if you average everything out over the next decade or two.

The Pac-12 has been averaging one ranked win a year OOC...INCLUDING BOWL GAMES, for half a decade, they need to turn it around quick because their trend line is not good.
