I’ve definitely had workouts where my heart rate was 150-185 the majority of the time, but not for 20 minutes straight.

Still, resistance will always be > moving your feet really fast.
 
Do the gym bikes allow you to pair with them, or do you not find that info useful?
I think he'd have to go out and get a HR monitor of his own
 
oh fuck all the running. Never liked it. I would ride a bike 20 miles, before I jogged a half mile. Too hard on the body, and my neck is all fucked up. Running is just not an option for me.
To each their own with that. I feel that way about biking. I like nice leisurely rides but don't think I could do something over 10 miles

Good morning good people. Cold here also. The weekend is going to be even worse. In Dallas that means a run on groceries. Bread, milk and chicken will be in short supply.

I gotta have some sports this weekend or I'll go crazy. I'm not much on regular season hockey or basketball, but maybe.

I might watch some soccer. I do enjoy the English Premier League. It could be a good Summer with the European Soccer Championships and the Olympics. Or, maybe nothing. I'm hoping for the former.

10 miles on a bike really isn't that much. I'll start on the towpath trail at the Ira Rd trailhead, ride up to The Winking Lizard in Peninsula and back and that's 10 miles. Takes me about 30 minutes.

there isn't much coasting done on a spin bike.

and like Roy said, you are constantly increasing the resistance on the pedals.
 
thats why I ordered the bike+... pair with my watch.
I'm not an Apple guy, so didn't appeal to me.

I bought a Scoshe HR monitor though.
