Wireless Technology for calling pitches

Its gotta be quicker I would think to do the typical hand signals when a pitcher is shaking of pitches. Can't imagine guys like Scherzer being patient enough to work with the tech. I'm sure like always, the tech can get better and easier to use.
I mean, when there's like 12 signals with a runner on second, how is pushing two buttons going to be slower than that many signals?

I get it for maybe "fastball away" when no one's on, and it's just point with one finger.

If this stops catchers from getting crossed up because the pitcher is an idiot and forgets what signs they're using, I'm for it.
This is one thing that I have several questions coming from it. Is the catcher pressing a button to send the pitcher a signal to his ear? In the college game its different because the coaches mostly call the games. Is the device going to be something that occasionally the catcher mishits a button and the pitcher is throwing the wrong pitch? Is it a certain tone that pitcher hears for each pitch? Or is it the actual word spoken out? If it's a loud stadium, could it be difficult to hear the pitch?

There's a lot of little things like that, where they probably will only happen occasionally, but could have ramifications on that game.

I didn't mean for just a pitch. But when the pitcher has to shake off a pitch. and the catcher has to look down and make sure he's pressing the right button. Again, I know its probably pretty miniscule in the grand scheme of things, but I could see it having some weird quirks from time to time.

Overall, I'm for it tho. But like everything, I think theres going to be a learning curve

My reading is that the pitcher, catcher, and the defenders up the middle have the earpieces. Catcher probably has a "kill" sign in case he screws up and presses the wrong button. They can either use plain words or code words. Guess we'd see guys covering their ears like QBs do in football to hear the play calls when it gets loud.

I'd guess, too, that if this tech goes to places like college, the communicator would just be in a coach's hands. Same scenario with who's wearing the receivers.

One thing that just popped into my mind is what the catcher hears and what the batter might be able to hear.

This would take away one of my favorite things, though, which was stealing signs. I did it in a tournament game in Little League. First base coach couldn't be an adult. I saw that the other team's catcher wasn't guarding his signs, so I was relaying them in to guys that wanted the signs from the first base coach's box. Them I figured out the signs from the dugout.

When I came in to pinch-hit, got a single to give us a chance to win the game off a curveball that I knew was coming.

are the pitchers going to share ear buds?

like when you bring in a reliever, the guy on the mound needs to wait and hand over the ear bud or does he just hand it to the coach with the ball?

Let's just remove the humans from baseball entirely and watch AI play baseball.

I’m all for robot umpires, either that or a much weaker umpire union. Angel Hernandez is the reason I’ll never be pro union

They’ve been using it in college this year. Coach uses the device. Catcher has an ear piece. Pitcher has a watch or belt piece. Haven’t seen any issues come from it yet

Sal Perez using it today. If it's good enough for him, it's got my vote.
