“Wisky and/or UGA will be in the NCG”

Yes -- poor offenses. Clifford is a train wreck of a QB. Mertz looked great when PSU was giving him free throws in bounds to let the clock run. Other than that -- he looked horrendous.

But if it makes you feel better to call the teams defenses great as an excuse, feel free. I'm watching a great defense right now in Bama. I wonder what you'd call their defense.
Gret. Did you see the graphic during the game of top defenses over the last 5, 10 and 15 years. Yep, Wisconsin was top 3 in each period.

Outside of the Russell Wilson year, offense seems like it has been the weakness for the Badgers.

These "other" teams need to step up their game. If you don't want Bama, Clemson & Oh St in the Championship game, beat them.

Great...you need both to compete for championships.
I agree. My only argument is that the season isn't over after Game 1. Nothing about today's game precludes Wisconsin from going 11-1. Hard but not impossible. We shall play all the games, not quit because Droider says our season is over.

Well looks like Wisky is out of it already.

That's fine. Droider is an idiot.

*Precludes is a dichotomous term. So you’re transparently being unfair in your argument.
therES LOTS in today’s game that predicts that Wisky doesn’t go 11-1.

When you are a ball control team, who is run first, it doesn't mean you are a great defense. Wisconsin has had some quality B1G defenses, but nothing great. Their offense is what makes their defense good. If you look at the "top defenses" -- it will be mostly run heavy teams.

What they do is control the time of possession, thus keep their defense off the field.

Using your logic -- Army had a better defense than Alabama last year.

Winning teams give up more passing yards because their opponents are playing catch up, AMIRITE?

As I said -- when you control the time of clock and opposing teams are running 15-20 plays less per game -- you are going to give up less yards. Doesn't make you a great defense, it is just the way Wisconsin has to play because they aren't going to get the skill position players top programs get to open it up and wing it all over the field.

But if it makes you feel better to say great defense is why you scored 10 points, more power to you.

I don't have the numbers nor the time but our offense has been up there in points per game, also. Points allowed per possession is a stronger measurement. But yah there is this and there is that and your mama is a slut. The season isn't over just because the odds of making the playoffs took a hit.

But then again, maybe we ought to just call off the rest of our season. Fewer injuries, more time for education.

I agree, the season isn't over. It is only week 1. But I think it is safe to make plans for yourself during the CFP, you don't have to worry about Wiscy interrupting your plans. :)

Didn't have plans. I think we are a year or 2 short. I realize our road to the playoffs go through Ohio State. It is the way it is. I saw this game as more of a step to the Rose Bowl. I am old enough that the Rose Bowl is the goal, not some money grab at the end of the season.

Until you can control exact parameters to make the playoffs, it remains an invitational exhibition game to me.

Humbug.

i agree -- not having a set way to get invited isn't ideal, but after watching Bama and then Clemson/Georgia -- they are playing a COMPLETELY different game than the B1G and every other team is playing. The defenses of Clemson and Georgia are like watching NFL teams.
Bama is Bama.

That is why it is the same teams essentially every year. It is the same teams filling their rosters with the best recruits in the country every year.
