Washington was a no brainer… they were undefeated.

I actually thought Georgia was the best team last year, but Florida State did not lose a game. The best team is subjective, Florida State was did not lose a game. It appears that your methodology if flawed.

Plenty of undefeated teams have been left out of the playoffs over the years.

There's an undefeated team about 50% of the seasons that misses the playoff.

The p5 designation matters to you, but it's an imaginary designation that means nothing.
