What's been surprising to me about this coaching search to me is the names we havent heard mentioned that much, like Matt Campbell & Hugh Freeze. Then the betting favorite ATM is James Franklin, even though the USC job is still out there and Penn State *may could match an LSU offer.
(Franklin and Kiffin make the same amount of $$$, btw. $5.5 million per season.)

Hmm. To speculate LSU could probably up his pay to $9-10 million per year and he could become the 4th HC in history to win a NC & SB. I think he'd be the first to win a SB first & NC second, though.

I think this is probably a good idea for both parties at this point.
I wonder if he pulled the LSU search, behind closed doors this time, like he did the Tennessee thing to get more money.

I would bet OSU is having a good season, huge changes in the conference are coming and they just want to stabilize their programs long term the best they can. I doubt Gundy did much.

I assume LSU is looking for a guy with HCing experience first, but a guy from the assistant ranks they seemingly have to at least take a peak at is Eric Bieniemy. He seems to have made USC's list, has expressed interest in a CFB HC job, is from New Orleans and has the distinction of winning a NC as a player and a SB as an assistant coach. He's done one hell of a job at KC too.
