Worst Sports City?

I have to say, that’s a very nice stadium. People are cool, too. I’ve gone there several times in full Giants gear and the few Padres fans I encountered weren‘t intimidating at all.
Not at all. I've been at tense pennant race games with Dodgers fans from East LA and it was generally friendly, even when literally everyone in there is shitfaced.

That’s a tough one. The community has supported their teams, but the city has not. Worst facilities in professional sports.
Oakland is dead last in MLB attendance this year. They just lost the Raiders for a second time. I get where you're coming from, but, yeah, they need to be firmly in the discussion.

How is St. Louis not the worst?

They’ve had a franchise in every sport leave.

When I lived in Yorba, we’d drive down and stay at the Hilton Bayfront. Walk over for a game and then wander the Gaslamp afterward. That’s a very fun experience.

If you’re looking for 3-4 pro sport towns, it’s Minneapolis/St Paul

Have any of their current franchises ever won a championship other than the Twins, who were close to being condensed out of the league by the mid 90’s?
And the Twins only won on account of turning the AC on high when opposing teams were batting.

I’m not defending Oakland. I don’t even like taking BART through there. They did have a really bad season in a historically bad ballpark. They also lost the Warriors.

What MLB team has left?

Rams went to LA
Cardinals went to AZ

Hawks went to ATL

I can't think of anything else..?

I don’t blame A’s fans for not showing up. They completely gutted a potential contending team. Rebuilding is one thing and necessary for most teams, and the Cubs/Astros/Braves have shown of done right l, the payoff can be huge, but those teams didn’t tear down playoff contenders to start their rebuild.

A’s, Reds, Pirates and Marlins fans have every right to be jaded and not support an ownership group that clearly doesn’t support them.

The A’s are likely gonna relocate soon if they can’t get a new stadium, and then it will be a no sport town since I think I remember hearing their roundball team moved across the bay

Detroit has the Hotel Yorba.

That’s an experience .

I did hear a few people while I was in Vegas that A's are going to go the Sin City.

Seems like Vegas might be thriving soon with pro sports. All seem to be doing really well

It'd have to be in the discussion but good grief, Petco Park in the Gaslamp? If the Padres were still in a horrible old stadium like Jack Murphy, maybe.

They also lost the Clippers that used to play at the San Diego Sports Arena over off the 8 and that was horrible, too.
Didn't the Chargers have pretty good support?

I didn't think them leaving had anything to do fan support.

Hockey teams in the Deep South are a gamble to begin with. Probably wasn’t ready for the Flames and the Thrashers won a grand total of zero playoff games their entire existence and only made the news when that one player killed his teammate in a car crash. I think a hockey team would fare better now. I see a lot of Nashville Predators flags and window stickers these days, which I never saw for the Thrashers.

But losing hockey teams is nothing compared to losing NFL, MLB and NBA teams. Falcons, Braves and Hawks have all been there for over 50 years and none of them are in danger of relocating anytime soon.
Dallas found a way to make hockey down here work.

Hint: Winning early helped.

Yeah, they have a very loyal fanbase that attended games despite the Spanos bullshit with the stadium and also mistreating Marty Schottenheimer. We should have had multiple SB's with that team.

lower than Tampa in attendance? Not possible :)
