Worst Sports City?

I strongly disagree about Detroit.

- How could a team as shitty as the Lions have been in our lifetimes still have such strong fan support?
- Detroit is nicknamed Hockeytown and still have been getting strong fan support despite poor results on the ice recently.
- Despite being utter garbage for years, the Tigers still have pulled in 1.5M fans this year. Meanwhile, the Marlins have pulled in half that and a good Rays team is pulling in significantly less.
- They support their universities well, too.

Michigan has excellent fans that love their sports, they just have shitty products to cheer for. Wings and Lions seem to be turning a corner into respectability right now and the Tigers seem to be not far behind.
That's because of the shitty stadium in a shitty area. Most of the fans are across the Bay in Hillsborough, Pasco and Polk counties.
Hopefully they'll get a new stadiums actually in Tampa. They have one of the highest TV viewerships in the league.

I mean, I love AZ sports, but Phoenix is not my favorite area.

Can't judge all AZ sports fans by Shaggy, similar to how you can't judge all Ducks or Washington fans based on OD or AG's actions.

But our sports support does...lack.
Ok Shaggy

All those damn Irish.

Few markets are. Gotta be tough being the second team in a two team town
NY, LA, and Chicago are really the only ones that can pull it off.

It's two different cities, but The Bay area could, if the city of Oakland actually got behind it's teams.

Yeah, the idiot mayor of Dallas floated the idea of bringing in a second NFL team.

Jerry was not amused.
All that would accomplish is having a new, unsupported team in town while the established team sees a small dip in support until the new team eventually leaves town

Was reading and NFL article that spoke about the different cities with NFL teams, and ranked them based on fan support in the other sports the teams have local.

Well, #1 was...

Detroit, Michigan.

2. was Phoenix, Arizona.

3. Cincy

4. New York

5. Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.

What does everyone else think is the worst sports city? Or what other cities are bad?
The Detroit Lions have won one playoff game since 1957 (that right 65 years), and yet the fans support them with sell out after sell out after sell out. Many here believe that the Lions are back and will be Super Bowl Bound soon. By all rights, these amazing fans have every right to disown this team, BUT WE DON'T!!! About a half hour west of Ford Field a college teams that hasn't won a championship since 1997 gets 110,000 people per game in it's stadium. Whoever, wrote that article doesn't know what they are talking about.

Even then, one team is always gonna be far more supported than the other.

Oakland doesn’t deserve to have any teams in any sport. They’ve been calling that dump in Oakland the worst MLB stadium since I was a kid, and I’m sure it has only gotten worse

@Voltaire - I didn't write it, and I have always been impressed with Lions and Brown fans.

Shit teams, but crazy support.

Literally no one here is asking for another team. It’s like when the Chargers moved to L.A.

Michigan hasn’t won a natty since 1948. Don’t know where this 1997 stuff comes from

Laura Miller is still demonized for not bringing the Cowboys back to Dallas, this dude is just trying to right that wrong and give a reason to spend billions on upgrading Fair Park.

Same here, and I was born in 71.
