No Roundup anywhere near what I've planted for food. That shit is poison.
a close up of a woman 's face with a blue shirt on

Well yeah!

We bought some from Home Depot and planted in a bed and it died.

I may or may not have accidentally hit it with Round Up or planted it where I had killed weeds with Round Up (my suspicion honestly). However that information will forever be hidden from my wife and I will allow her to continue to believe she is an utter failure at farming.

This IS the way....

There's the mistake.
Never buy any plants at Lowes or Home Depot.....they always struggle and die.

Find a local nursery.
Don't spend years watching a plant struggle, only to die, and have wasted years, when a better plant would have grown in like you wanted.
When we moved to our new place the original owners went nuts on the landscaping and the second owners "improved" the landscaping.

I have spent damn near 5 years working on unfucking this back yard. There is a tree that grows sideways. I can't get I to go straight. I have had it with this thing. And it is in a very awkward position for mowing and dog gets wrapped around it.
Wife won't let me take it down.

I am going to tell her we need to cut our losses because I am taking an experts advice and plant a better grower

I do a lot of hunting and fishing. I plant a few mater plants every year, but could easily grow a full garden if I wanted to. Blackberries would probably be my only fruit for a while, there’s tons on my property

I could, but I won't. I'd go shares with someone if they need ground.

Like a plantation owner type thing?

My nearest neighbor (1/2 mile away) hays the 14 acres on my west that I don't do anything with. His equipment, labor, etc.

He'll give a me a 60/40 split on the hay. However, I have no livestock, so he just pays me going rate for my share.

But, who would make the mayo for the tater salad? And, who would eat what they made?

Would I? No, had enough of that growing up. I hate weeding.

But I could do it if I had to.
You also said you would give up sugar too "if you wanted"
But still hasn't happened
