My master is on the first floor, but I don’t think we’ll stay here after the kids leave the house. Yesterday, as I was struggling to put the attic stairs back up after changing the furnace filters, I said to myself “I’m not going to be able to do this when I get older”. The ceilings are really high and the attic stairs are a bear to get down and back up.

Same here, and our master is opposite side of the house from the heathens rooms. Ranch FTW (though my office, and oldest kiddo room and bath, plus a great room, and storage room are in the basement)
Then it’s not really a one-level house. It’s a two-story house that got lowered.

Nah its still a Ranch house technically. Most houses here in nebraska have basements. It is a walkout basement with 9' ceilings so it doesnt "feel" like a basement but it is still very much a ranch. All the main bedrooms are on the main floor, kitchen, dining room, laundry, garage, bathrooms, living room. and there is no 2nd floor. got a 1st and a basement
