Years ago I said a CFB playoff would ruin bowl season

The issue is on that is want draft picks and NFL players around your program. You don’t want to cut them out and look like a dick to players.
If the same rule affects everyone, the school isn’t a “dick”. I never proposed any program doing something unilaterally to curb the opt out problem.

Better than anywhere in Bitchigan
If you’re a big fan of hot garbage and the smell of Mexico wafting on the breeze, oh hells yeah.

Neither of us have the parade game of New Orleans though.

Bowls should start taking spring game attendance in consideration before giving out invites. Good fan bases will go/watch their teams regardless of how good/bad or which players are playing.
Best not look at anyone from the north then. Spring games are practice up here. Nobody cares.

Was thinking going on vacation in Detroit. Anywhere you recommend I go to get mugged, and/or possibly go missing forever?

No, they are exhibitions anyway so no more win requirement.

Just make sure you stay atleast five or six blocks from Comerica/Ford Field/Little Caesars and you shouldn’t have any problem finding crime.

I am not sure what to think. I remember around 2000-2010 or so, I would record almost every bowl game on DVD and watch them in the off season. I would not miss a bowl game from the Rose Bowl all the way down to the Kotex Bowl featuring two 6-6 teams. Now, the last couple years or so, I watch the bowl games around December 28 and on. I hate opt out deal and sort of understand it though. I say let the G5 teams split from the P5 as far as playoffs go. Then, have an 8 or 16 team playoff for the P5 and same for the G5 teams. Then maybe have five more bowls for the teams that missed the P5 and G5 playoffs. Or something like that.

Folks who state that Bowl games are meaningless exhibitions I guess don't realize that almost ALL sports across this planet are meaningless exhibitions for the non-participants...

sure, some of those sports result in making numerous people rich in various fields/careers, but unless it's Death Race, Squid Game, Gladiatorial Combat, or something similar, sports have minimal importance... but we still like and follow sports, including myself.

So yeah, I try to watch as many Bowl games as possible because I'm a football fan.

Nice truck, man. Is that your pride and joy from years of dedication? At least erect a cheap carport for shade or something.....

It's a black vehicle. I moved it out onto the driveway so it would show up in a photo.

Bowls were originally exhibition games. They didn’t count towards final rankings. They have returned to that and it happened years ago. There is no saving them, it’s time to just move on. Time to move to a 12 team playoff for the NC. Maybe do a NIT style 8 team playoff. 2 things destroyed bowls. 1 players opting out and having 70-80 teams in bowls. There are too many too make them interesting. ESPN’s demand for content gave fans about 10-15 bowls they never wanted to see and it had killed the excitement around going to a bowl
This is the first year for bowl games that I started not giving a crap. I don’t disagree it’s been going on for a while but for some reason this year there really isn’t anything I’m excited by and the opt outs plus COVID cancellations make it seem so pointless.

I really didn’t think we needed an expanded playoff but what we have now is on life support so expand it.

For the teams that miss the playoff we should have another NIT tournament type thing where the winners and runner ups get a cash payout and the overall winning program gets two extra scholarships the next year.

Can’t say I love those ideas but it’s better than what we have.

You just have to know where to go ... just like any other city. I vacation 30-45 days in Metro Detroit every year!!!

So what many of you are saying is the CFB season no longer matters to you and you no longer pay attention to regular season games once both teams have 2 losses. You only watch teams in Oct/Nov that still have a shot at the playoffs?

Example: You didn't watch the PAC CCG because Oregon was (10-2) and Utah was (9-3).

Is that accurate?

The Rose Bowl was hyped by B1G retards when they needed something to cling for pride. If other cities had a big parade n shit for their bowl game, CFB would be way more awesome.

Of course, you can't really have a big parade in NOLA cuz everyone would get shot. But other cities could have tried to build a cool tradition like that. I'm sure Pasadena started that to promote the area so more people would move there. Now, everybody is moving South anyway and it's too fucking crowded.

You want an NCAA rule, to shield coaches from a the pushback. I get you now

The answer for opt outs is simple. Have an anonymous source claiming to be an NFL team executive tip off Mel Kiper and Todd McShay and say that skipping bowl games has a negative impact on draft postion. Speaks to character issues.

You're welcome.

No parades with normal people who went to college. The entire state is a festering shithole. That many educated folks in one place in LA would turn into a massive carjacking and rape festival.

@Bayou Tiger ever see someone double down on stupid as much as this post?
