@RememberTheKoy brought this up. I have not seen a great deal from the 70's, particularly some classics like the Godfathers, Network, or many Clint films. But I have a list of 10 that I know I have seen and ones that I genuinely really like to love. Some GREAT horror came from this decade in particular.

1. Rocky
2. The Exorcist
3. Jaws
4. Rocky 2
5. Halloween
6. Alien
7. Blazing Saddles
8. Taxi Driver
9. Escape from Alcartaz
10. Chinatown

After whittling it down and thinking about it, in no particular order

Smokey and the Bandit
American Graffiti
Superman
Saturday Night Fever
The Sting
The Last Picture Show
The Outlaw Josey Whales
Patton
Animal House
Alien
Jaws
Star Wars
The Godfather

My list would be much the same as the ones above, adding Apocalypse Now.

I went through and settled on 10. Not going to rank them, they are all great watches. So, in no particular order:

Apocalypse Now
Rocky
Godfather I and II (it’s basically one movie)
Exorcist
Young Frankenstein
Empire Strikes Back
Jaws
Smokey and the Bandit
The Sting
Close Encounters

In no order.

Animal House
Blazing Saddles
Godfather I & II
Chinatown
Star Wars
French Connection
Young Frankenstein
High Plains Drifter
Up in Smoke

Shit. I forgot French Connection. Certainly top 10.

Walked into the room that other day and wife was watching Enemy of the State. I had a moment of realizing Hackman is one of my favorite actors for some roles. Popeye Doyle is absolutely a top character for me.

French Connection's an all time great movie.

1. The Godfather
2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
3. Blazing Saddles
4. Network
5. Animal House
6. Chinatown
7. American Graffiti
8. Star Wars
9. Jaws
10. The Poseidon Adventure

Yeah, I purposefully left Star Wars off of the list. I understand they may have been incredible for their time, but I don't find them to be particularly special in the cinematic sense and I don't find any of them better than the ones I mentioned, so yeah...

But I also grew up in the 90's-00's. I didn't sit down and watch all of them until I was a late teenager... so probably like 2004-2005. I am sure if I was around when they initially came out, I would probably have a stronger likeness/opinion about them.

Any list that doesn’t include Patton is immediately suspect.

That’s fair. If I had ran this list as OE the kid who grew up then it would be at the top with A New Hope 2 and Empire 1.

Some of OE the kid did show up in my list as I put Empire on it. Empire was the more superior for me. A New Hope will always have a solid place, but it was not the superior one.

And, yes, I just noticed Empire was actually 1980. Thought it was 1979. Close enough.

After seeing some of the lists, Patton goes Top 25 but there are a lot of better options.

not for me. That movie is probably top 10 all time.

However, I would say the same for Jeremiah Johnson
Haven't seen that either, but I did mention at the start that I have not seen a lot of movies from this decade lol.

I am interested in watching good cinema, but I am simultaneously at a point where I require it to be available on Netflix, Hulu, or HBO lol.

I should have included Patton in my list.
