Silly premise.

A smart GM knows they should trade draft capital for a franchise QB that is currently mired in controversy and unable to actually play for about a full season. Then sign that franchise QB to a fully guaranteed contract so there's no backing down.

If your new franchise QB gets hurt, sign an aging former Super Bowl MVP to step in on the cheap and enjoy your super bowl victory.
