Bitcoin

yea thats kinda a big problem eh?

in a SHTF scenario... Bourbon will be way more valuable than any cash you may have buried in a PVC pipe in the back yard.

@HammerDown so when shit hits the fan and doomsday comes, how do you withdraw your bitcoin and turn it into something usable? just curious from a preppers stance how the bitcoin comes into play
Yeah, good question and it all really depends on what the SHTF scenario is.

Economic or political collapse will usher in hyperbitcoinization, as we see in Russia/Ukraine right now. You want shit from those places, you trade in Bitcoin. Putin has already said he won't export goods unless paid in Bictoin.

Global catastrophe or global natural disaster, collapse of society, etc. I guess it won't make a difference.

I'm hedging all bets by prepping for bugging in, bugging out, with food, water, barter goods on hand.

The Bitcoin network consists of nodes (you can run one easily today on your computer or Raspberry Pi), many, many nodes all over the Earth. It's virtually bulletproof and getting stronger daily.

bulletproof as long as there's still some semblance of an internet.

not in that order...
Arrange them how you will based upon your needs at the moment. Read an extremely interesting essay some dude wrote about when the SHTF in Bosnia and how if you had shit to barter, you could get whatever you wanted. He talked about preying on desperate young, attractive women and fucking them for a meal. Not easy stuff to read about but fascinating. Dude really needs cigarettes and booze and you have them? "Bro, what you got?"

That you're comparing a finite hard currency with an infinite, hyperinflatable fiat currency tells me you really don't know anything about Bitcoin.

I'm saying all "currency" will be zero.

Your bits in a virtual wallet will have no more value than an ex-president's face printed on cotton/linen.

It's a completely decentralized network. There is no one in control, there are no servers. Has zip, zilch, nada to do with the internet.

Learn about Bitcoin. It's fascinating.

you still need a way to transfer data... and other nodes to keep track of those transfers.

In a certain SHTF scenario, yes that would be the case. I don't own Bitcoin for that scenario.

Yes, the Bitcoin network. Learn how it works. It only takes a few minutes.

so I've disconnected my computer from the internet... how am I supposed to transfer bits from my wallet across the world?

@Dole ver 2.0 You were so active and vocal in the crypto thread but you don't have anything to say in the Bitcoin thread.

Your silence speaks volumes.

Are you learning about Bitcoin?

and you're expecting any of that infrastructure works in a SHTF scenario?
Again, it depends upon the scenario. If humanity collapses, the last thing I'm going to be thinking about is Bitcoin.

You think Bitcoin is going to zero, I think it's perfectly-engineered currency.

Your argument that it'd be valueless if the world collapses, therefore it's valueless now is absurd. Surely you see this?

that isn't my argument.

I was told to buy bitcoin last week. Now I just have to figure out how and what I am doin
