So what is the latest news on the OU and Texas to SEC situation?

Yep. Gap's going to get larger between the SEC/B1G and the other three. And there is nothing the other three "conferences" can do about it.

A very limited number of schools have two options IMHO. Seek membership in one of the two big money conferences or go independent like ND. But the majority of the other 38 schools in the ACC, Big 12 and PAC 12 really don't have any options. They can't do anything but learn to live with lesser means like the G5s.
yep -
is there a conf level between G5 and P5 ??
maybe P2, B3 and G5 -

so a yahoo article where
the chairman of the Big 12 board of directors said
"the transitioning league is in “a very strong position.”
translates to
"Kinda funny to me to listen to how the remaining teams in the Dysfunctional XII are acting so self assured about their great financial future with those excellent new teams coming into the conference to create maybe the most competitive conference in college football"

whatever dude -

maybe P2, B3 and G5 -

So you're saying the Texas Tech President is delusional. At least we agree on something.

not sure where you come up with that,
but,
what would you expect the COB to say ??

I would expect him to say anything to make things look as good as possible. Doesn't make it true but I understand his motives. Just Google the comments various AD's and coaches have made since the announcement of the 4 new teams. They all claim the conference is positioned to be better than ever. That's laughable. I'm not sure OU's move to the SEC will result in anything but a lot more money and less winning but I'm a realist even when it hurts.

so, various ADs n coaches -
again,
what would you expect them to say ??

We both expect them to do what? Tell the truth or lie? Either you agree with their comments that everything is hunky dory or you agree with me that their comments are full of shit. Pick one and stick with it.

So what the coaches, athletic directors and conference commissioner have all said is true. Or was it BS? It can’t be both. Is the conference in great shape for the future?

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see BYU, UCF, Cincy and Houston being attractive enough to the networks for them to make the same payment to the Big 12 as they did with Texas and OU. In fact, I don't think Houston brings one additional dollar to the table. Baylor, Tech and TCU already bring the Texas eyeballs. What part of the country just can't want to see Houston games?

UCF and Cincy at least bring a few additional eyeballs, but nothing on the national scale of Texas and OU.

BYU will bring the most and that could be bigger than many expect. LDS folks are everywhere.

Again, I hope I wrong.

That's on the financial side of things...which is all that seems to matter nowadays. As far as a pretty damn good conference in most sports, I think the Big 12 will be in pretty good shape. But will they be able to keep their other programs to that level when the revenue drops? That's the question.

Another flaccid rejoinder?! You can’t take a position and debate it with either reason or passion? I would expect this from a 13 year old girl.

That’s the best you’ve got. Just more obfuscation. People left behind in the conference are putting on a brave face and I can only surmise you agree with them. One of the oddest truths is most of you hope Oklahoma falls on its face in the SEC. That is certainly not an impossibility but if that does come to pass it will hurt the Big XII because we ruled the conference in football. If the Big XII’s big dog is only a puppy in the SEC we all will lose.

non sequitur -

back to your original post -

other than some "various ADs and coaches",
with the expected coach-speak,
you got anything else ?

Call me crazy, but I think the new big 12 will be more competitive than the ACC and Pac
I’ve posted all sorts of posts with links that predict that to be the case. SEC - $115 mil per team, B1G - about $110, the other 3 PF somewhere about $52-$58 million. It’s not that the other 3 will be all that different … it’s that the SEC and B1G are going to be way ahead of the other 3.

The sec is just better, that's a fact. Doesn't matter if they make Oklahoma look bad, that would be expected.

Besides, y'all ain't even the big dog anymore, this is Baylor's conference now
