So I had avoided googling excessively til I was sure, is it only going so fast cuz there's nothing to compete with where we killed off broadleaf weeds? Like if I put this off will it overtake the rest of the lawn if I wait til fall or next spring? It's in an area I really don't care about and may end up digging out anyway next spring

At first I was all excited thought it was baby grass then it never got dark and grows three times faster than the grass Im like this isn't right quick google symptoms suggested nutsedge and figured I'd take some pictures and check with the wisdom of the hoop

No
It spreads no matter what it seems.

Image weed concentrate can help, but I have had limited success with it.

Don't pull it out ever.
You think you are getting rid of it because it comes up pretty easy, then you throw it away.

Stop it.
There is always some left in the ground in the root system, and it comes right back every time.

Yea I read about how it spreads with rhizomes underground like Bermuda
 
When I grew way back in the day....joints is how we smoked our yield.

We would save the roaches and roll up a roach joint....

Then we would save that roach and roll it up with others roaches off roach joints.

I use Ortho ground clear and I haven’t found anything it won’t take out.
