2023 Recruiting Thread

Not sure what you think you were showing. We are talking about college talent over the last 5 years. I gave you the numbers. Clemson is 4th of the four main teams I highlighted. We are also talking about the lack of it going forward ... are you arguing that you have people to replace the ones that I listed in my initial post, because I don't see it.

Just got back from a little vacay ... here is another problem for Clemson ... you've only won when you have had a generational QB. Maybe you have that now, I don't really know.
I guess you're right, Dabo has only won when having QBs like Boyd, Watson, and Lawrence. Yeah so fluky of Dabo to recruit and get good play out of his QBs, yeah it's fluky that Dabo had the where abouts of starting it's generational QB and not losing them in the portal (*cough*cough Kirby).

Maybe DJ, Klubnik, and Vizzina will all bust but I mean can say that about any 5 star coming in including players that go to OSU, Bama, and UGA. We really won't know until these recruits actually get on the field.

But this is what you lose, among others, this coming year:

Murphy
Bresee
Tyler Davis
Xavier Thomas
Trenton Simpson
KJ Henry
Mascoll
McFadden

2 starters at DB
Ngata, and another starting OL and TE...
Longtime stud Punter&PK

Once those guys are gone, you have Shipley and Mukuba are your only two returning studs.

Recruiting:

2022 - 10th, with 20 commits
2021 - 5th, with 19 commits
2020 - 3rd, with 23 commits - most of these are on the list above as being gone after this year.

If you see a pattern, it's numbers. If he isn't willing to go into the portal he is in trouble. You have a talent depth problem.

You aren't like UGA, Bama and tOSU who simply replace NFL guys with other NFL guys. That's because their coaches are merciless ... you perform or your get processed. Don't get me wrong ... their cultures are also great ... it's not like Clemson is the only school that can develop a culture. It's just a different culture and unless Dabo adjusts, if the ACC gets better you guys are going to be in trouble.
Not sure what you are getting at with this post and no I don't quite see the pattern you speak of. Besides IOL, I'm not sure what Clemson really needs from the TP for this upcoming season

1. Are you concern about Clemson losing and replacing players?
I mean yes, every team face this same issue lol including UGA (unless you think they're getting the same defensive prodcution as last year?). Dabo been doing this for at least 10+ years.
He has manage to replace groups like:
- Boyd era with WRs Hopkins, Watkins, Humphries, martavis bryant, Jaron Brown
- The defense group in 2014
- 2015/2016 era with Watson, Mike Williams, Ben Boulware, etc
- 2018 era with Lawerence, ETN, and greatest defense of all-time

As far as replacing the above players listed. It's way to early to even worry about 2023. There's plenty of guys (1 star - 5 star) that's in the depth chart, plenty of time all next season to throw snaps at younger guys and see what they're made of. The 247 star ratings doesn't necessary concern me as we have seen walk-ons through 5 stars become impact players / NFL players (also seen plenty of highly rated guys that don't live up to the billing). We won't know what these recruits will really look like until they get on the field

2. Are you concern about the # of commits a year?
In CFP we have a 85 scholarship limit per team. Clemson has 85 scholarship players on the team every year just like any other team. Not sure where the concern of depth comes into play?

3. Are you concern Clemson doesn't recruit on the same level as OSU, Bama, UGA?
Clemson recruiting rankings past 10 years:
2019: 12th
2018: 7th
2017: 16th
2016: 11th
2015: 9th
2014: 15th
2013: 14th
2012: 20th

They never have and let they are 6-5 vs those schools in the past 10 years.

Michigan's recruiting hilariously in shambles. Raylen Wilson Decommits

I never get too high or too low about recruiting. Clemson won a natty with 9 3*** and a Walk-on in their starting 22. And I don't think A&M is going to win the next 3 Nattys.

kinda helps when you have one of the best QBs to come out in the last decade plus ... but yeah.. I'm sure they would be ok with a fighting 3 star

Watson also wasn't some 3 star either

Hell yeah Johntay Cook committed to TEXAS

Good get. Highest rated IOL to commit under Dabo
he's the highest rated?? Yikes.. I think he's good and all but compared to the last class in the state.. he would be nowhere near that tier. Think he'll end up as a really good OC..he's a smart kid

Just looked at the Texas High School top 20. Damn 4 of the top 20 are headed to Notre Dame. 6 are headed to A&M. Texas 3. OU 2. Louisville and Clemson with 1 a piece. 3 are undecided.

It will be fun to see who has the better career between Pettaway and Cook.
pettaway is really good too.. Can't wait to see how a core of Worthy, Thompson, Cook, Niblett looks next year
