I think we’re like 2-3 recruits away from where we normally would be right now.
Put it this way. There’s 1 team ahead of Michigan with only 10 recruits in the class. It’s Alabama at 17.
The biggest thing right now, outside the top 10 for most of the classes, is # of recruits. Look at Baylor, Cinci, TT, Northwestern, all ranked in the top 15 right now. None of them have more 4 star commitments than Michigan's class sitting at 45. They're ranked there because they have 20-23 recruits in the class and it's only july. Like I said, Michigan isn't finishing in the top 10. But I still think Michigan ends up in the top 20.Alabama average player ranking is 93.47
Michigan's is 88.35
Big difference there.
The 247 overall class ranking does not necessarily go all by quality.

A lot can happen in 6 months. We got a few players out of no where last year, no reason to think that's not possible this year; especially given the late start our staff had with the whole Harbaugh NFL thing. We have the big house BBQ event at the end of the month, should be a good time to make up some space on some recruits. We'll see what comes of that, usually does really well in gettinga few commits. If they went purely by quality (average recruit ranking)
Michigan would be 25th. I'm not sure how high that # can possibly go up considering the realistic possible recruits Michigan is looking to add to this class at the moment.
Fuck all the Moore's. In all seriousness, he was an ND lean forever. Big get for OSU. This one stings. Dude has a ton of potential. Reminds me of Chase Young, only a little skinnier
Sounds like ND is pushing for Novosad.
I haven't followed his recruitment all that closely, but I have heard his commitment to Baylor is wavering. We'll see if that actually happens.
Ohio State and Texas A&M are also pushing for his commitment. A lot of smoke around A&M.
OSU is loaded at QB, would be interesting if he went there. I can see him going to A&M. Seems like they have the most uncertainty at the position.
Stroud is gone after this year and the QB job is wide open.
McCord has not really shown anything special in his time he's gotten (though he is still young, and it's hard to step in as a back up and look immediately impressive) and Brown is a freshmen we have yet to see. Not as "loaded" as some would think. I guess in terms of recruiting rankings, yes. But proven commodities, no. It's anyones job after Stroud leaves.
McCord was a 5-star, and Brown was a top 50 player overall. And Raiola is the #1 player in 2024. When he's a sophomore, all those guys could, theoretically, still be at OSU. In comparison to a team like ND, that's a much better QB situation. Yeah, they are unproven, but my guess is McCord or Brown win the job in 2023, and perform really well because it's hard not to given the surrounding talent. Lol.
It's always nerve racking replacing a guy like Fields or Stroud though. Even if the guy replacing him was a 5*. You never know how those guys are actually gonna perform when push comes to shove. It's definitely nice to have multiple options of that caliber though. I feel like we a over due for a nose dive for a season at the QB position with all the good situations we have gotten the last like 17 or so years.
Yeah, it definitely is. I'd bet that McCord or Brown will be very good. Will it be Fields or Stroud good, probably not, but who would have thought that Stroud would be as good if not better than Fields. If this kid does go to OSU, he's competing with 3 other kids who are ranked higher than him. I'm not telling him to run from the competition, but at some point, it just becomes a numbers game. It's why Ewers had to transfer, because he wasn't going to see the field for another year.
is Raiola expected to start as a true freshman??I was bullish on Stroud. He was a very late bloomer in his class (believe he ended up the #2 PRO Style QB). Ended up with a high rating but there were still a lot of questions.
We do need to take a QB in this class though unless they plan on bringing in a transfer for next season. I think Novosad will decide elsewhere though. It's gonna be hard to get a higher more sought after QB at this point with what we have and Raiola looming in 2024.
is Raiola expected to start as a true freshman??
You guys got screwed by Harbaugh. We just flipped your best recruit. He said something to the effect of "At Georgia, Kirby is here to stay, he's home."A lot can happen in 6 months. Yeah, not great for this year for sure. But it seems salvageable still. The flaw in what's been said is that only kids with crystal balls pointing to Michigan are our only shot moving forward. We have a annual recruiting even that always happens at the end of July and we usually get a few recruits from it. We have a bunch of kids coming already, like these two:You guys got screwed by Harbaugh. We just flipped your best recruit. When Harbaugh went looking to the NFL you should have moved on. He is so easy to recruit against because he isn't all in, and it's obvious to everyone.
Even if you land some more players and get in the top 20, you are screwed for a long with a lost class.
