2023 Recruiting Thread

Sure. But getting him on campus is actually pretty significant for an official visit to our biggest recruiting event every year. And I posted two other recruits earlier in the thread who confirmed attendance. So we have some talent coming in at the end of the year for officials. It wouldn't take much to vault us back into a normal position. You get 2 more 4 star kids, especially a 5 star, and add a few three stars in there and Michigan is well within the top 20 again.

I'm sure he will visit a few campuses for certain events though. I'm not saying Michigan has a 0% chance but i definitely would say saying that they "lead" is a bit of a reach.

You and I didn't talk to him. Sam did. And given his entire existence depends on recruiting, I'd say there's a little more there than either of our suspicions based on nothing.

Sam Webb has a consistent reputation for being a sunshine pumper though. You can take his word for it if you want. But knowing his track record his word for these types of things is laughable until proven otherwise.

He's also built up a reputation of being right about recruiting....

I think he's more biased when it comes to actual football and the team's performance. He sugar coats bad performance or tries ot justify bad performance. He's often not one to do so in terms of recruiting.

is he like Parker thune for ou? or like Eric Nahlin of UT or that Krulic guy for tosu??

they paint rosey pictures and when it doesn't come to fruition, they attack their subs lol

sure they are.. low 4 star isn't the same as a high 4 star..
#125 in the class isn't a low 4 star. There's only 87 four star kids in the class ranked higher. There's 276 four star recruits ranked below him. He's very much at the top end of the 4 star rankings.

so he's a sure thing, my apologies

Yes, exactly. You always have to take what the team site guys say with a huge grain of salt. They arent going to draw click from being completely negative, they've gotta pump the sunshine.

LOL happens every cycle.. funniest one going on right now is at aggy.. When UT was starting to get commits after Arch announced.. one of the Texags staff/mods guy posted "U want names, Here I'll give you some names" and so far like a couple have committed elsewhere while the rest are all trending to different schools.. This is the best time of the year for recruiting meltdowns.

I'd say anything below like 250 overall is a "low" 4 star.
man i've been through this dance enough over the past 6 years.. if they aren't top 100 they usually are hit and miss.. Miss for my longhorns unfortunately :(

Those guys have to be good at sucking readers in to subscribe to their premium stuff, lol.

Running doom and gloom on your specific team isn't going to attract many new subs.

Top 100 is definitely more sure

100-200 is still good though

Anything after that you are looking at needing more luck with development.

The Terrell Pryor recruitment was particularly hilarious with this, I remember that like it was yesterday, pure comedy from the Michigan and Penn State recruiting site people.

I get that, but like you mentioned prior, you figure out which insider holds more weight than others. Not many from the four, $9.95er sites that cover UT, that's for sure

"We actually know nothing of what the kid is going to do but he seemed positive when I talked to him so *insert school here* must be leading" - Homer site recruiting guy
shit that sounds like Parker Thune when he inserts his CB a year out LOL

There are a couple of national guys who's predictions hold actual weight when it comes to CB, when those guys throw one out you know it's probably true.

The year out CBs are always funny.
