2023 Recruiting Thread

I did some digging on Nyckoles Harbor. South Carolina people are saying the exact same thing as Sam Webb. None of the national guys are really saying anything. Which means nobody really has any clue.

I need you to keep being negative.

Since you called out our class, we've gained 3 four star recruits in less than week.

Remember when I said it was in all likelihood that you would land probably 4/5 four-star guys. This was one of those kids. This hasn't altered anything I've said. When you land a kid that I didn't expect, I'll give you some recognition.

Exactly, Michigan getting guys theyd been long expected to get is not exactly a "I told you so" moment

I don't think anyone said they'd finish the recruiting rankings in the 50s either. Everyone pretty much agrees they will probably be somewhere around 20-25. Maybe a little higher if they can sneak a few guys no one expected them to. 20-25 for Michigan is not exactly a positive thing though.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how many more four-stars they can pull. I'd probably guess 2 more at the absolute most based on where things stand now, and that's probably on the high end. Early signing day is only 5 months away. They certainly aren't in a great position with a lot of 4 and 5 star recruits.

Exactly. You can say "its only July" but it's only 5 months away, not like it's a year or more. Slacking behind with 5 months left and scrambling the rest of the way for players is not a good position to be in.

It's not some kind of far out thing to say that Michigan is going to end up with a lot more 3* reaches than more established 4* from here on out with how things look at the moment.

Hell, Their next expected Commit is one of those - My'Keil Gardner, #488 in the 247 composite

Not sure we need 2 TEs in this class, but predictions are coming in for 4* #135 OVR #9 TE GA TE Jelani Thurman to Ohio State

He's announcing Sunday.

The only program that wastes four stars more the Michigan is Texas.

Texas is definitely #1 at completely wasting talent/underachieving. Personally, I’d argue that Miami (FL) deserves 2nd place, tho.

UMich is probably about #4 or #5, imho.

Maybe's it really is a good thing that Michigan isn't attracting the big big names, those types of guys have seemed to flop more often than not under Harbaugh, most of their success has been due to lower rated players.

no shit..which is why I focus more on top 100.. after that it's a huge crapshoot.. Guess that's why Bama, UGA, are really good..

DeMarco Murray lands the North Carolina player of the year.

Back up to #1...for now anyway.

We’re shopping down a different isle. Right BK?

FYI Rico Flores says ND wouldn’t have even made his top 10 if Kelly and Del Alexander were still on staff.

With how Freeman is recruiting, seems like BK got lazy. We've already surpassed our best class under BK and have a good shot at landing 3 more four-stars. And maybe a couple more kids.

FYI, your best ranked recruit, would be ND's 11th.

He was never that engaged in the process. Only time I really remember him taking a big role was when he got Lynch, Tuitt and Ishaq Williams to commit in the former two cases, re-commit. And while those were huge prospects only Tuitt contributed meaningfully. Lynch transfered out and was a locker room cancer, Williams never panned out.

The “shopping down a different isle” quip was Kelly’s go to line for not even targeting elite players.

Michigan gets a commitment from a kid from France who has a NR ranking on 247 in July.....

MOMENTUM! Lol. This is what we are talking about with them struggling, this isnt a type of guy you should really be accepting commitments from with 5 months to go until early signing day, maybe at the end if you still have space.

And no this isnt some guy the Ohio State and Bama's at the world were considering if they had room.

His offer list

Buffalo, Uconn, Vandy & East Carolina.

It's almost like BK is taking this cycle off.. and just concentrating on '24..

He's gotten a 5 star DE in TX Fong'd to them and a borderline 5 star Safety in TX Fong'd to LSU. I know the '25 class is supposed to be one of the most talented classes out of Louisiana in about 5 years. Be interesting to see how he does there..

Reloading the already loaded LB room ...
