I think we get a lot of gene, and maybe some final weaving between Jimmy/Saul and W/J (they are supposed to appear at some point in these final episodes).

Yeah I am curious if we even see Kim again at all in the final 4(maybe in the Gene stuff she pops up). Think we might get a little Mike and Gus as the BB timeline stuff weaves in, but thats about it.

Only thing I dont totally love, is how unclear the timeline actually was. I never felt we were days away from BB like some, mostly due to the meth lab not even being close to done and Saul not being the established "criminal" lawyer that Jesse knew him as.

But we really have not a single clue how much of a jump the show just took ha.

Think we just jumped between 2-3 years. From 2004 to sometime in 2007/2008 if we’re bumping up against BB now. And Saul looks likes it’s been a few years of hard living.

If this is true, and it may be, I don’t like it at all.

Why would Saul immediately think Lalo sent W/J after him after (3?) years of never hearing anything from him AND being essentially told straight up that he was dead? And throwing Nacho under the bus as well? Saul, I would think, would be more scared that Mike and/or Gus sent goons to take him out.

Making the kidnapping scene take place that long after the Lalo story just doesn’t work for me.

I don't think it's that big of stretch. He was already assured he was dead before only to have him show up in his condo and shoot Howard in front of him and Kim. Clearly a thing that will haunt him for the rest of his life and he'll associate any traumatizing situations with. Maybe we'll get a better idea of his relationship with Mike and Gus, but I don't think it's anything more than what it has been, he does some favors for Mike, Mike does some favors for him, even in BB he doesn't even really know who Gus is, and Gus just uses him as needed through Mike, so I don't know why he'd think they're after him.

As @Cave_Johnson can attest. Lalo had superpowers.

It has to be a decent amount of time. If not 2-3 years, at least 1 year.

1. The meth lab wasnt close to completion yet
2. Saul was not established to be clearly known by someone like Jesse that will take time.
3. He knows Mike, but thats it. There has to be some solid time to pass for him to gain the trust of Gus. To first put him in contact with Walt/Jesse and also have Mike clean up something like Janes death.

2) Saul has been establishing himself in the scum-world for a while now in BCS. I could see Jessie being aware of Saul (outside of the benches) at this point in BCS.

3) Jane died at the end of S2. There could have been a few months between the kidnapping and her death. I don’t remember the exact events from BB to be able to put those on a timeline.
 
Apparently it’s only been a year. The novelty check Gus presents in the mid season finally is dated 2004, Saul’s license plate tabs at the end of the last episode expire in November 2005.

So we still have a couple years before Breaking Bad, if the nerds over at the fandom wiki are to be trusted.

1. In BB time like no time had passed. There isnt a huge gap between Walt getting cancer and them working in the lab. And again, there would be a process. They didnt finish the lab and Gus say "alright bring in the 50 year old chem teacher and the junky).

Walt celebrated his 50th birthday in the pilot. There is an ep in S5 where Skylar tries to drown herself while they are all celebrating his 51st birthday.

2. Absolutely not. Hes built a small clientele but Jesse told Walt this is the guy when you need a "criminal" lawyer. He does not have close to that connection or establishment. Jesse also said he got Emilio/Krazy 8(cant remember which) off a bunch. He hasnt sunken that low.

3. There wasnt.

None of that was enough time at all. Again, not sure it needed to be 3 years. But where Saul and Kim were was at least a year away from Walt getting cancer.
 
I thought that episode was the best of the season. Really good stuff.

I'm not fully convinced that they're jumping completely forward here but it wouldn't surprise me.

One thing to note about the time jump scene is Saul talking about some guy getting charged with public masturbation. This is what Saul thinks Badger was charged with when he first shows up to defend him in Breaking Bad. Timeline still doesn't line up if we only jumped to 2005 though.

It for sure has to be 2005 we’re in. Unless he just let his tabs lapse for 3 years. It gives a clear shot of the plates. Think the public masturbater was just a call out to his meeting with Badger. He comments it’s been happening a lot when he’s on the phone.

Good episode. Glad they did not kill Kim off.
 
I liked the all Gene episode, but I don’t know how I feel about it’s placement in the series, kinda has a just trying to wrap everything up feel about it. We’ll see what they do with the remaining episodes and how it all flows, but at this point, seems like everything is pretty much resolved and Gene was just kinda thrown in. Going from cold open scenes to open each season to a full episode(s?) in the middle of the end of the series just has a weird feel.

Jimmy has had to do a lot of despicable stuff over the course of the two shows.

Nothing was more degrading than pretending to enjoy Nebraska football.

While watching a real Nebraska fan inhale a Cinnabon, no less. That had to be a lower moment than when his own brother told him he didn’t love or respect him on any level.
 
How many god damn Cinnabons did Jerry eat there anyway? Was that fucker eating one every single day? Wasn't completely clear. I thought he was gonna have a heart attack and that's what would end up saving the cab driver bro from getting caught.

Carol Burnett was pretty funny to see. Chuck has a few lines about her to his wife earlier in the series.

Apparently, Carol Burnett is a huge fan of the show from what I've read.
