Electric Cars

One benefit I think people are overlooking is the ability in dead of winter to turn on and heat your car in the garage without opening the garage door. And since the heat is electric, it doesn’t require the engine to warm up to transfer the heat.
Where would I put all the things in my garage, if I parked my car in it?

An electric car does not solve that issue.

Ok
Found something to watch and see how it goes.

the Post Office has bought some. there's a good test right there.

lol, this pretty much seals the deal about an EV being "worth it."

No one knows being wasteful, over budget and wildly inefficient like USPS.

I pull 30' travel trailer. I believe the range for a Ford Lighting is about 100 miles when pulling this weight. Thanks but I'll pass at this point and stick to my gas guzzling F150

On the flip side, Amazon contracted Rivian to make their electric trucks. And Amazon doesn’t do shit that is inefficient.

Just got a call from the dealer today. Our Bolt is starting to be built august 24th. Dealer says they should receive it within two months of that date! We should have it something in September or October!! Means we have to really get an electrician in line. Much faster than the 4-10 months we were given.

Ford says EV batteries will cost $8000 more

I could be speculating here but I think GM was ahead of the curve here getting deals in place for their materials. Ford seems to have jumped the gun before securing consistent suppliers.

@outofyourmind I know you were asking about installation costs for the charger at some point, got a quote this morning for $900. $500 in labor, $400 in parts. My fuse box already had two 110's labeled "spare" so that was enough to run the 240 line from. 50' of cable, plus the actual socket hardware. Waiting on a few more to come in but that seems pretty reasonable for what we've been seeing online of about $1500.

Weak sauce, if it doesn't involve a butter knife and duct tape you're doing it wrong

This is where people will get lucky.
In an older house like mine, I have zero room in my existing box, so a brand new box will be required.

And $900 is about the same price I paid for about the same thing.

Good to know.

Cali is going to outlaw ICE cars by 2035. Well, that's one way to take care of the traffic problem.

Here's what the morons in Cali are saying. "Turn down your air conditioning during hot spells in order to not overload the grid, but please plug your EV's in every night because for those, there's plenty of power"

You can fix stupid, but it's gonna hurt

using electricity for the basic necessities of life in California: "you selfish monster"
using electricity to charge your insatiable EV in California: "you brave humanitarian"
