TV Series Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon

Doubling down on your retardation. Largest premiere in HBO history and it has widespread gotten great reviews. Currently a 9.0 on IMDB (really good). So the ratings are only going to go up for this show.

So no, you're wrong. People are watching it and it isn't going away. There is major interest in it and now that the show is finally here and it is actually good the viewership will only grow.
It’s not doubling down. Your argument is irrelevant to What I said. I’m simply standing pat.

We will see. It set up for a good story, but if it’s written like the shit we saw in the last seasons of GOT, then it won’t be around long.

You're doubling down. First you claimed you ever said no one will watch it and that was false. Now you're trying to compare it to the XFL which makes no sense and believe that this show will be canceled and people won't stick with it after the first episode.

Imo, it was ok.
It wasn't great.
It wasn't awful.

As someone else said, it got better as it went along.
I wouldn't have realized it was starting if a friend hadn't reminded me, and in all honesty, they'll have to remind me to watch next week, or I may forget. In other words, I'll keep watching for now, but I'm not hooked, yet.

I'm also not one who regularly watches a lot of tv, so it will have to hook me soon, or I'll probably forget it in favor of The Rings of Power, which starts soon.

So, if production on this begins in 2021, I wonder, will the first season be finished and air before Martin even finishes, much less releases, The Winds of Winter?

Also, it looks like the answer to the above is going to be a big ol' Nope.

It’s not false. As I explained: “just because the xfl had a good start doesn’t mean “lots of people watched it” in the context of “it’s gonna end quick.”
It’s plain.

Further: HBO canceled one of the best shows of all-time: Tremé. They don’t fuck around.

The nostalgia and hopes for Dragon will fall away as we ppl realize it’s going to be poorly written fantasy schlok and not the lightning in the bottle political masterpiece that was Thrones s1-6

No one watched that shitty show Treme, that's why it was canceled.

We will probably be hearing of how Hosue of the Dragon is renewed for a second season in the coming weeks.

You keep moving the goalpost as if I set it to any of the things you want to corner me into. You’re transparent and flailing.

Plus, Tremé was tremendously good.

Firefly was one of the best sci-fi shows ever made. It was canceled after 1 season. The quality of the show and the success of the show are two TOTALLY different thing.

This is getting (and will likely continue to have) incredible viewership numbers. There is no reason right now to think that will change. HBO will almost certainly renew it for AT LEAST one more season. If they don’t, it will be because of the cost to produce the show, not because of any kind of viewership issues (Though I can say with complete confidence that it WILL be renewed)

Rewatching it and picking up on some missed things the first time.

I didn't realize that the opening scene was in Harrenhal until this re-watch.

Also you know that shit that the black dude at the table was trying to warn the king about is going to end up being a factor at some point in this series.

Talking about the prophesy with a friend irl right now…

Was the prophesy ever explicitly discussed in GoT? Who knew it? In this ep, the king told the daughter (bare with me on names, I don’t have them down yet) that only the king and his heir know the prophesy. But Mad King was killed and Berantheon (or whatever his name was) took the thrown from him, so he never would have known the prophesy.

Everyone always said “winter is coming”, but I think for them, it just meant that, literally, winter is coming, so prep your stores so you have enough to eat through out the coming extended winter.

Now we hear from the king that only he knows the true prophesy and that there will be cold and dark coming from the north and the true king will save them (or whatever the exact prophesy was).

Black dude that doesn’t get to ride dragons is like the richest guy in all of Westeros, right?

Likely that Rhaegar Targaryen knew the legacy and it died with him. He felt he was the chosen person to save the world and was training for it.

Plenty of people knew about of the White Walkers and such, most didn't care. They thought it was all myth.

I didn’t dig any deeper than to wonder while I watched last night….are there black Targareyans?

Isn't a Targeryan. He's a Velaryon which aren't around anymore by the time of Game of Thrones.

House Velaryon is still around in the time of the original Game of Thrones (though they never appeared on screen), just not quite as rich and powerful as they were during the time of this prequel -- however, they are still the most powerful House among Stannis's bannermen and play a significant role in the books.

Was the prophesy ever explicitly discussed in GoT?

Kind of. It's all part of the prophecy of the Prince That Was Promised, which, on the TV series, Melisandre talks about, for example on season 7 episode 2 when she meets with Daenerys. The books talk about the prophecy a lot more than the TV series.

The black people with the blonde hair look terrible too. Not sure what they were thinking.

They're House Velaryon. In the books, they are actually the closest-related house to House Targaryen and thus look like House Targaryen (silver hair, purple eyes, pale skin) and are not black, but the TV producers wanted more diversity.

The black folks with white hair, can they ride dragons?

Some of them, because they are heavily intermarried with Targaryens, and thus have a lot of Targaryen blood.

Yes.
