Last movie you watched and rating (1-10)

Dune.

A lot of strong acting in this long film. Visuals were fantastic. This two-part movie has the potential to be an all time great. For now I will hold off on a rating until part 2. It could always fall flat.

Watched Prey last night before I went to the moon.

It's a good movie. Not quite as good as my buddy led me to believe, but still a decent action/predator flick.

Aubrey Plaza in a non-traditionally structured narrative. It’s meta. It’s self-referential. It’s blurs the lines between the art and the artists and reality, and a commentary on Hollywood.

Campy werewolf crime thriller comedy film. It bites off more though: relationships with dad, alcoholism, relationship with kid.
Lots of plot leaps and such, but shot pretty well. You might like it.

The Aretha Franklin story.

Adequate but not great.

Vampire killer, Jamie Foxx.
This movie brings the goods.
Nice little funny popcorn movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
All the character motivations are simple and consistent.

Marky Mark, mystery treasure hunter.
Fraggjn terrible. All contrivance. No heart. No sense. Just watch GOONIES again. Or even National Treasure.

Another light treasure hunt, but this one has charm, fun, good acting, a better soundtrack. Bullock, Tatum, Pitt, and Harry Potter are on point.

Like mostly all biopics, paint by numbers and boring. Watch any Aretha concert (or even YouTube vid); you’ll get much more out of that experience.

Wow. I thought this was going to be some Fox Force Five crap. Nope. It took itself seriously; all the characters were tight. The plot got a bit fantastical, but still a good movie.

The Offer (limited series)

Acting, cinematography, lighting, Easter eggs, writing, pacing, tone. Just great. Besides some on the nose dialog in the first half of the first episode, which can be easily excused as they have to set up their world, the dialog and banter is great. This is an easy recommend.

Great time and story. Plot gets a little off the rails at the end, but it holds together. Acting is top notch. Oscar Isaac is on point.

So well acted. So well shot. So well paced. It hits the tone it aims for: like a Wes Anderson Forest Gump wannabe. But in the end, like Stranger Things, there’s no there there but nostalgia and a vibe.

Greatest Beer Run Ever.

Story of a guy from NY who brings beers to several neighborhood buddies while they are on active duty in Vietnam during the war. Supposedly it’s based on a true story. I’m not sure how loosely or accurately it’s based though.

Starts off a little slow. Picks up a bit somewhere in the middle but never really “gets there” for me. I give it a 6 out of 10. In fact, that might even be a little generous. I’m curious to know how accurate the movie is to the actual story.

Stillwater

Matt Damon stars as the dad of an American daughter who’s convicted of murder while studying in Paris. The movie is based on the Amanda Knox case.

Everything Everywhere all at Once
10+

It's pretty hard to describe the plot...but it's awesome. I guess at the end of the day it's about a mother and daughter's relationship, but this movie has everything (quite literally). Got some great fight scenes, wildass multiverse action, sex toy fights, comedy, and it'll hit you in the feels. At the end you'll sit there unsure of exactly what you just watched but totally sure you enjoyed the ride.

Poor secondary role acting, but entertaining. Most Netflix movies suck, that one was decent.

Scream (2022)

Pretty decent watch. Entertaining enough. Definitely better than the 4th one from 2011.
