That's why I said " Both have pretty prominent and well supported alumni bases."

in terms of NIL, how much your alumni support the school is going to directly impact those opportunities.
 
You can still sell Wisconsin as running back U and great offensive lines because it wasn’t that long ago. Nebraska has no identity and the only party of that athletic department that is remotely competent is the volleyball team.

He's not a bad coach, but he was really in good situation for him

he was 500 coach at Pitt and got Wi jobs due to connection to Barry and being prior OC. He had early success when he had Heisman candidate RB (that won doak walker award 2 straight years) and really good defense. Mertz was supposed to put them over the top

Wisconsin has regressed a bit the past few years, but still very good. This year their defense isn't it's usual self, Allen is a good RB but not Taylor good and defense doesn't have the LB squad it's used too, and despite having several highly rated OL recruits, their OL isn't even as dominating as they're used too

I am surprised, I woudn't think Chryst was fired this year, but I do think Chryst and Wi were trending back to mediocore. I'm not sure Chryst could replicate his success elsewhere.

and my gophers dropped ball on Saturday so I'm not even in a gloating mood

This. I wouldn't say he was a bad coach, but all he had to do was maintain the status quo that Alvarez built and the fans would have been happy. Bert did it. Anderson did it (though he wasn't there long) Chryst may have been able to turn things back around but we will never know

And for every Lamar Jackson -- there are 6 pocket passing QB's. Mahomes, Stafford, Brady, Tannehill, Jared Goff, Geno Smith, Joe Burrow, Tua Tagolovoa (sp), Mac Jones, Kenny Pickett, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, David Carr, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, Jameis Winston, Jimmy Garappolo -- all pocket passers.

The reason why you don't see a ton of running QB's in the NFL is quite simple:
1. Everyone of the defense you are facing can run
2. Teams want to protect their investment -- when you are spending MILLIONS AND MILLIONS you don't want them running around taking unnecessary hits.

Lamar Jackson is an anomaly. He can run and rarely takes big hits. Josh Allen is an anomaly -- he is the size of the DE's chasing after him and can run them over. That isn't the norm and it isn't taking over the NFL, because there are only a select few.

You see teams trying to find the next mobile QB -- but the NFL and college are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT games.

Okay, now I'm beginning to wonder if you are even interested in a decent discussion. You just listed four that I know for a fact cut their teeth on "non pro style" offenses...one of 'em about 45 miles from where I live....and he played as much receiver at A&M as he did QB.

They CAN throw from the pocket but they damn sure didn't learn to do it from a pro style offense in their development. Do you even know who Mahomes, Mayfield (and Murray for that matter) played for in college? They damn sure weren't disciples of a "turn around and hand it off and throw it on 3rd and long" coach. He was about 180 degrees opposite of that in his stubborn ways...which ain't the way to do it either IMHO.

And one of them has a stable coach and team full of promising freshman. The other will be cleaning the silk strings off of corn.
