No everything is different. He pitched the 8th too.

Managers fail to realize that the odds of a guy who is currently dealing imploding is much lower than the odds that 1 of your 4 relievers you use happen to have an off game.

I don't disagree with your idea generally, I think I just don't think as much of Quintana as much as you do. "Quintana has thrown 75 pitches and has a couple of lefty mashers coming up but he is throwing well" would not have been seen as a very convincing argument a year ago. I do think that he's probably earned more leeway than he had a year ago but I still don't like him facing Hoskins and Realmuto in that spot in the 6th.

I'm looking at the play by play right now. Don't you think that Helsley probably ends up entering in the 8th even if Quintana finishes the 6th? It seems like he was coming in in the 8th if the tying run came to the plate. I would say that the simplest guess at usage if Quintana finishes the 6th has Hicks pitching all of the 7th and Gallegos starting the 8th. Do you think that Gallegos is allowed to remain in the game in the 8th with a baserunner if he has thrown fewer pitches to that point? Maybe he is. But I also think there's a decent chance that Helsley is entering there anyway.
 
Although I’m a Yankees fan I would love to see the Mets win tonight. I’m rooting for a subway World Series I know we got a long ways to go for that to happen but this is the start

First playoff series in 20 years. Clinch at least one home playoff game for the first time in 20 years. It’s a pretty big deal for them. Let them celebrate. The act like you’ve been there before crowd needs go away

97 to the middle of the back to the hitter that has done the most damage this series and just made a great play to kill a potential rally.
