Here is the issue. Bama had Texas in OOC, they barely escaped with a win 20-19. Tennessee played Pittsburgh in OOC, who they needed OT to get the win.Why do you not want the best teams in the playoffs? What if UTjr and Bama are two of the best 4? Why allow one loss to eliminate any team?
YepWe won't agree, but I'd argue a system that for years didn't allow for the best teams to play each other was a bug, not a feature. CFB was great in spite of itself. They are now correcting it and that is why so many people like it now and will in the future.
I agree with what you typed. If you look at what you and I were responding to, it was a post about the 12 teams CFP and that these games wouldn't have mattered. Your statement is a succinct argument for the 12 team CFP ... who knows if UTjr and Bama are the top 4. Let's get 12 teams in there and we will find out. Here is the issue. So are they 2 of the 4 best or simply 2 of the 4 best in just the SEC, because nothing they did when they played teams with a pulse in OOC screams 2 of the 4 best? Tennessee has a tremendous offense and no defense. Alabama has Bryce Young and Gibbs. The defense looks very average, they are extremely undisciplined and their special teams have been terrible.
Yeah -- I haven't been able to watch UGA alot this year, but they absolutely embarrassed Oregon in the game I watched. My guess is a Georgia repeat, but we'll see.
I'm all for the 12 team because Michigan will have many more chances to play in the CFP at 12 teams than they will at 4. That being said -- it is nothing more than a money grab. CFB isn't CBB. You aren't going to see these fanatical upsets. CFB can't even find 4 teams to make the games interesting. I believe they said the CFP semifinal average margin of victory is 21.5 points. Adding more teams isn't going to change that what so ever.I agree with what you typed. If by money grab, you mean that they are going to create 3.5 times the amount of compelling college football at the end of the season, grab all they want. The market is speaking here. You don't get a "money grab" by just adding meaningless games as you indicate. You get a shit ton of money because you are adding games that a ton of people want to see. And it's driving conferences to up their OOC and IC scheduling because that is what people want to pay to see.I'm all for the 12 team because Michigan will have many more chances to play in the CFP at 12 teams than they will at 4. Yeah... LOL @ people that can't stay on topic for very long.Hmmm, usually this thread is good for more chuckles
Can’t wait until potentially undefeated Michigan Ohio state this year! Where in a 12 team format I can rest easy knowing the outcome doesn’t matter. We won't agree, but I'd argue a system that for years didn't allow for the best teams to play each other was a bug, not a feature. Finally, thread back on topic here. LOL. If your big rivalry game doesn't matter to you, then maybe you just aren't a fan and cfb isn't the sport for you. Can’t wait until potentially undefeated Michigan Ohio state this year! Now that we own Ryan day it’s been kind of a yawn. Finally, thread back on topic here. LOL. If your big rivalry game doesn't matter to you, then maybe you just aren't a fan and cfb isn't the sport for you.
...you just said the outcome wouldn't matter. Again, maybe this sport just isn't for you.Now that we own Ryan day it’s been kind of a yawn.
But it seems like some can’t separate that rivalry games will matter but they’ll matter less with nothing on the line but pride. We knocked Ohio out of a national championship last year. Can’t beat it.

So it is a money grab. I.E. games that will draw millions of eyes, but definitely not all really good football games.. You guys who talk about money grabs don't have even the most basic understanding of economics. Moves like these are made so that the product produced - really good CFB games that draw millions of eyes - is increased.
It wouldn't, nationally. Both teams would be guaranteed playoff spots. And unless it were a blowout, both teams would likely end up in the top 6 still with a good seed. The outcome of the game would be irrelevant to the landscape of the game, only relevant to the emotions of the rivalry....you just said the outcome wouldn't matter. Again, maybe this sport just isn't for you.
It doesn't matter in terms of the national championship; that's the point. It matters only to the fans of the rivalry. The outcome irrelevant to national title chances.Lol at MnB going from doesn't matter to matters less in two posts

No, I said I can rest easy knowing that Michigan is in the playoff either way. Nothing is on the line but pride, much easier to handle defeat, and victory is less sweet, when the outcome doesn't matter towards your overall chances at success....you just said YOU wouldn't care about the outcome.
