Big Ten Basketball

Michigan State out here trying to schedule themselves an appearance in the NIT. What a brutal schedule. Looking like 1-6? And that's assuming they probably get a consolation win in the PK85.

not really. last year proved that you can lose a bunch of games, but as long as you have a few quality wins you're golden

They may lose too much that it won't matter how many quality wins they get. They weren't that great last year and lost a lot of their best players. If they go 12-8 or 11-9 in the B1G they won't get enough wins.

Every time I doubt izzo, he surprises me. When I'm confident in him, he seems to surprise be then too

Ben Johnson with good get.

Theres been a teaser floating around that some bad news for the program is on the horizon. Absolutely no idea what it is but apparently its an injury.

And its not Cooper who was seen in a precausionary neck brace. Everyone immediately assuming Battle. That would suck.

Heard few rumblings, all speculation.

Cursed though if serious

It was Ihnen. Sucks for the kid big time.

As far as the team goes, since we knew someone was gonna be looking at season ending this was one of the better "options" in terms of not killing the season/future.

I feel like we dodged a bullet, but I do think Ben had plans for Ilhnen and definitely hurts our bench making it razor thin again

Yeah, Ihnen would have added depth, which sucks. No Fox or Ihnen for consecutive years. We do have more front court depth with Garcia so hopefully it doesn't matter all that much. Need Payne to be ready to go, and Thompson to take a leap.

I think he'll end up being a consensus 4 star when all is said and done. If Ben can land Chatman our backcourt is going to look really solid in 24 and beyond. If Battle/Garcia return in 23/24, the ceiling could be very high.

have fun in the CBI

Iowa got a commitment from Pryce Sandfort today

Next years class is really looking solid. 13th in the country right now

If they can lock down Estrella or Powerv it'll be a top 10 class. If they get both out could be a top 5 class

Fran does a great job developing players. He's what I hope BJ can do at Minnesota because we are very rarely going to get top 50 guys. Perkins and the Murrays were all ranked in the 300's. Keegan a top 5 pick, and now Kris is likely an All-American, and Perkins is probably an All-Big 10 player next year. I think Iowa will surprise next year. I'd still peg them a top 25 team. Love their OOC schedule.

Iowa will have a top 5 offense next year and a defense ranked in the 130s

A 5-star from CA? Holy shit.

Gophers were his first offer and Ben was also there early watching him at gym when no other major programs were.

I'll say this, Ben has identified a number of recruits early that shot up the rankings, this is first we kept, but it's a good sign he can identify talent and hopefully can win few more.

Yeah, I knew we were on him for a while. Glad he stuck with us even when more prestigious schools came and offered him.

And yes, guys like Betts and Christie have shot up the rankings as did Payne. He's done a good job identifying those types of guys. Let's hope the development continues once they are on campus. We are going to be long and athletic starting in 2023 so I really like the potential of the defense and if Battle does stay for 2023-2024, it could be a special season.
