Big Ten Basketball

Yeah, I knew we were on him for a while. Glad he stuck with us even when more prestigious schools came and offered him.

And yes, guys like Betts and Christie have shot up the rankings as did Payne. He's done a good job identifying those types of guys. Let's hope the development continues once they are on campus. We are going to be long and athletic starting in 2023 so I really like the potential of the defense and if Battle does stay for 2023-2024, it could be a special season.
I'm pretty excited to watch Ben build this thing

of course, I was pretty excited for PJ to finally win the B1GW this year...so

His big thing was his friend(i believe its Henley) for gophers or coaching ties(TCU).

He didnt give a fuck about NIL at all I heard. Got a lot of offers in the final hour of recruitment and turned them all down. Only Kansas was even considered with the bluebloods being in his final 3 at least.

Yeah, Henley was his teammate either in High School or AAU, I can't remember.

And yeah, NIL never seemed all that important to him. Getting a top 30 kid is huge. Biggest recruit since Humphries. I don't think Coffey or Oturu were top 30 kids, IIRC

Evans/Christie is good class

I think MN is expecting at least one more spot to open up, but I bet they wait until spring and use that on a transfer

Think with the new portal rules.

You always expect a spot to open up. Doesnt have to be a specific player, usually the season will sort that out when guys earn minutes. And even now guys can impulsively bail with no worry of losing a year for that impulse.

Think the right move is to wait for the portal with someone leaving and adding from it too.

Gophers hold on to beat Western Michigan by 1. Need Battle back real bad. Hopefully, he's back by the DePaul game. Still, even without him, I expected more.

Disappointing for NET purposes and also cause the margin shoulda been more by the final minutes anyways.

But a misleading 1 pt win. A total back dooring. And the game was never actually in doubt.

Yeah, based on how the end went, it looks like WMU went on a run at the end. WMU projects to be pretty bad, so a 1 point Q4 win doesn't look good.

Every single B1G team played. Every single B1G team won.

Yeah I think the more concerning thing to me(obviously having to factor in Battle and Carrington being out)

Is that we needed Cooper to play a full 40 min against WMU. That just cannot be a year long thing. Big game against Sparty? Sure. Cupcakes?? Allyear? No.

Ben proved last year with Willis he will ride his guy, but man there has to be some sort of back up option.

Nebraska 2-0 for the first time under Hoiberg.

Michigan beats Eastern Michigan by five points

lmao, what a clown

Gophers look like shit. Damnit.

Battle will help the offense. But hes not exactly an athletic speciman with strength defensively.

I have no idea how this GOpher team is gonna guard Big 10 guys. DePaul is playing with their food with how much faster and stronger they are.

Cooper is a solid PG but he cant stay in front of guys. TT is horrendous. Whoever Samuels is shoulda transfered down, not up in competition. And Ramburg is a fucking starter.

Payne is niiiiiiiiice though. And the other 2 freshman have long term potential. Oh, and Dawson is still 7 lifetimes away from the NBA.

Yeah, it doesn't look like we can guard on the perimeter with our guards. They are just blowing right by Carrington, Ramberg and Cooper. It also looks like we don't have much shooting either. I like Payne and Henley as long-term prospects. Samuels is awful.

Ola-Jospeh has some potential too. Hes gotta settle down and consider passing. But hes already got some bulk to him.

I think my most disappointing thing is another year of like no depth. Hopefully has the recruiting keeps chugging along that will stop. But Cooper basically has to be a 40 minute a night guy(a long with Garcia and Battle) and Cooper isnt even that great all around.

I really like Payne though. Hes super loose with the ball and panics when doubled a bit. But man hes a load.

Good road test tomorrow night for Iowa

Soon Hall should be a Bible type team. Not sure what to expect. I think Iowa wins but it's so early in not sure yet

Changing of the guard under Holloway??

Cause under WIllard those dirtbags were far from bible thumpers.
