It is Mid-October and there are over 10 teams still in serious contention for the Title

The "media" overall may be "fair." But do you really believe ESPN isn't slanted towards the SEC? Hell, CBS has had the main SEC games for several years but they don't slobber all over the SEC like ESPN has.

The slobbering you are referring to is the comments about SEC being the best conference and frankly, based on Playoff Race and Post Season, for the most part it has been. Sure you get crap like 8-4 Purdue beating 7-5 Tennessee in Music City Bowl but that isn't going to dethrone the SEC. If Ohio State and company would actually go to playoffs and beat Alabama, Georgia, etc., they would get love.

You want love, than WIN. Simple as that.

Well we know they kept Texas A&M in when they lost at home to a not good Sun Belt team.........

You seem to talk a lot of crap about Florida getting credit for beating a highly ranked Pac12 team at home. Well they did what Ohio State failed to do last year...

Frankly, Florida would probably be 5-0 if they played your schedule right now as well :pound:

No, the SEC has some "teams" that have been the best. If ESPN just talked "teams" then it wouldn't be slanted. They lump the rest of them in with those "teams" and infer all the teams are of the same quality. They ain't.

Come on, you can't be that big of an SEC wonk.

The list that would be 5-0 playing Ohio State's schedule to date would be damn long IMO. Not just Florida.

It doesn't matter, the other leagues don't have great teams. When someone likes a Miss State beats LSU, they deserve credit because Ohio State hasn't done that in the modern era.

Also, when the B1G actually has a good year when teams are not losing at home to MAC/Sunbelt teams, they do typically have 4-5 teams in top 15. They have had that constantly the last 5 years.

SEC doesn't even have the most ranked teams right now.

Now regarding networks, they are going to talk about SEC (even if it is a few teams) and it being the best league until other leagues start doing the same thing. As stated, the way to shut it up is to win. Simple as that.

Yet Ohio State is #2 (or #1 according to most people). Hmm... Media bias?

They needed a bad snap and a bad hold to scrape by a god awful South Florida team.

Florida should had gotten credit, I never said they shouldn't had, problem is the amount of over credit they got. That wouldn't be afforded to most non SEC teams.

At least Tennessee fan can finally have some pride.

After riding the coattails of Bama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, Georgia success over the last 20 years.

What is said is I kind of like Ohio State and I don't mind UTEP either... I just don't like people crying about SEC media bias.

I'm not even crying about the constant jerking off of Bama and UGA, those 2 have earned it. Hell I really don't even mind those 2 schools, as annoying as them constantly winning is.

It's the other teams that they constantly try to prop up, one falls and they just pick up the next one in line.

Texas A&M being the most glaring example.

What about LSU or Florida? Both smoked Ohio State the last time they played and have 5 of those 13 National Titles? LSU won it in 2019 lol.

You are really reaching for bad examples. Every conference has highly ranked teams that fail such as Utah in Pac12, Miami in ACC, Michigan State in B1G, Oklahoma in Big12, etc. This isn't just limited to the SEC.

Are we really giving "benefit of the doubt" based on success 10 or more years ago?

Since beating Ohio State in the BCS title game in 2007, Besides winning in 2019 LSU has been terribly average outside of 2011.

Same can be said for Florida since 2009.

Bama is really the only one with complete sustained success over the last 15 years. With Georgia joining them like the last 5 or so seasons.

I ain't defending the bucknuts at all. They get way too much benefit of the doubt as well. So do all blue bloods but they've earned it to a certain extent. Even as lousy as Notre Dame is right now, they are still Notre Dame. Kentucky, Miss State, Illinois, etc AIN'T Notre Dame and shouldn't get that same consideration just because they are members of "the conference". JMO

Problem with a #2 Ohio State is someone has to occupy every spot in a ranking this early. Probably a lot of teams are overranked right now. Ohio State's resume damn sure doesn't justify it IMHO. But most pollsters are "eye test" and "reputation" types....and wonks as well.

Ain't "crying" about it. And ESPN would be stupid NOT to overhype them. They've invested a shitpot full of money into that product. They should overdo it from a business sense. Which is probably why they don't even care if they are seen that way.

You are always going to get the name recognition bias.

Michigan is probably one of the more constantly overrated preseason teams over the course of the last 20 or so years.

They love putting USC and Texas up there too when they dont really deserve it.

I'm not denying that at all.

Ohio State even benefited from this in 2004 and 2011

Hell ill even admit the only reason we got into the playoff in 2014 was more than likely due to the name Ohio State.

We wouldnt had got in if it were Texas or USC up against us for that last spot. We got it because it was TCU and Baylor.

Didn't you win the B1G in 2014?

Also, I find it funny you mention USC when they did get left out in 2003 and several other years in 2000s.

2003 probably should have been LSU vs. USC.

Yes. But TCU was ranked ahead of us the whole way until they got the opportunity to shove us ahead when we beat Wisconsin in the B1G title game.

That doesn't happen if TCU is a bigger name.
