I was speaking with my nephew who lives in one of those states. This has been one of the oddest transitions in law and attitude I have ever seen. One day the police are ripping through cars at every stop, now I see people smoking walking down the streets, at the NY State Fair, and the police are right there.
It's just weird.
The best part is nobody cares. I can now tell my doctors, dentist, everyone in the healthcare system. And that's probably the most important overall thing that will impact millions. There are many unknowns that we will learn...from an educated position. Not having to learn shit by trial and error.

Because we can only have 6 flowering plants at one time, I'm staggering grows by starting three seeds every month. So tomorrow I will start three more seeds to replace these in the tent. So, there are nine plants in the tent, but only 6 will be flowering at one time.
I'm finding height a problem, so I'm moving away from the 5 gallon buckets and have started using plastic tuff boxes that are lower in profile. I gained a lot more water volume and a few inches more to grow towards the light. This is still a migrating system as I learn stuff.
The weird part is that the attitudes around here are about the same as your son is witnessing. Our city has decriminalized possession and you normally won't find LEOs looking for that. IF one is caught with 1/2 oz or less, you are more than likely not even going to get a citation unless they find other drugs as well. I believe that I could build a grow "closet" for one or two plants, properly install/maintain charcoal filters and use the closet for drying and be unnoticed. It is just not worth the risk since I live a walking distance from a state that legalized recreational cannabis.

It's getting there and looks pretty good, but it got a late start and I had no idea what I was doing.
First 28 degree night is a week from next Monday, so maybe I get a little longer on it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. The cool nights may help it along too. Nature is telling her it is time.
They already revised that low of 28 up to 32 and the night after that a low of 40. With highs in the 60's to 70.
So I might have a few more weeks. Might make up some for the late start.

I hear you. About a year or so after legalization, I was visiting my doc and conversation drifted to rec drug use. I mentioned that Illinois didn't allow rec users to grow their own. She flat out offered to prescribe a medical card so that I could.
I had my first two gummies today. They will do until something better comes along.

Virginia currently has legal recreational cannabis but only medical dispensaries are currently open and you need a Virginia address to qualify for the medical card. It is expected to be 2024 before recreational dispensaries open. I may have just stumbled into a way around the residency requirement being exploited by one particular business. I am going to check it out this weekend ... probably tomorrow. There is nothing for me to lose, legally speaking, as long as I keep my purchase to 1/2 ounce or less. Wish me luck!

Watched tons of YouTube so wish me luck.
This is really more of a practice run for next year.
Oh, and the State of Oklahoma e-mailed and told me my Card is being processed, so I'm legal next year.

Maybe grow big ????

I have someone who gets me the Medical and it says 23% thc so I think it's pretty strong, gets me high, but it's $200 an oz. Some 'Green Crack' and some 'Fruit Loops' however they come up with those names.
Now, when I get my Card, I'll be able to go into these Dispensaries and price shop on my own, so I'll be able to get you and me better information.
Thanks! From what I am hearing around here it is just slightly above MMJ costs for the same strains. That is expected and quite frankly a little on the low side from what I was expecting. I decided to go with a couple of sativa dominant hybrid vape cartridges for 35 each.

I'm not sure how strong copyright laws cover strain names, but the nickname for the variety I grew is "green crack".
The proper name is Dream Queen from Humboldt Seed Company. Seeds are available in 5 and 10 packs. Runs approx $10 per seed for feminized seeds.
Went ahead and harvested today.
Tomorrow is going to rain with a 75 degree high, diving to 50.
Friday night 27 degrees.
Most of next week the nights are below freezing.
