Dude UNLV only has 2 winning seasons in football since 2000. They suck. Nobody cares about them either.

Their basketball program is not good now either, its been 10 seasons since theyve made the tournament and theyve only made it 6 times since 2000.

Vegas is a ok market but that clearly does not mean UNLV is ever going to be any good.

Joining the B1G has not made Maryland or Rutgers any better than they are historically though.

Joining the Pac 12 would not make UNLV any more relevant either.

At least Maryland and Rutgers have some sort of following though, be it not very large.

Who the fuck follows UNLV? Especially in football

Surely with more investment and more money and more exposure UNLV would not get better in sports. Much like Amazon not investing and promoting their football conference, UNLV would not invest and promote their sports and grow.

I don't doubt that at all. Just because a household has prime doesn't necessarily mean they will watch a PAC 12 game or ANY CFB game for that matter. Same as all the rest. Nearly every household has CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX but they may not be watching CFB. But hey are more likely to watch a high profile matchup than a dreg game unless they are fans of one of the dreg teams or it is regional and not up against a good game.
 
People east of the Rockies aren't going to pay $14.99 for Amazon Prime 'Just to get PAC 12 football'.

No more than they'd pay extra to get the Longhorn Network.

As I said above, all the exposure and money of being in the Big 10 has not made Maryland or Rutgers any better. Why should we expect UNLV, a historically awful football program, to achieve big gains?

Rutgers and Maryland were BCS conference teams, they were already playing with the bigs and went into a tougher conference than where they were.

UNLV is mid-major getting a major promotion. An opportunity to grow.

See it as Colorado moving from the Big12 to the PAC12. And Utah going from MWC to PAC-12. Utah got a promotion and has steadily increased their program. Colorado is basically the same as it was in the Big12.

Utah was already a somewhat respectable program before they joined the Pac 12, ya dunderhead. They only had 2 losing seasons in the 20 years leading up to them joining the Pac 12. Including some pretty great success in the 2000s

UNLV has exactly 1 winning season (7-6) and 1 season where they finished 6-6 in that same time span.

It's not even comparable.

I don't. Neither do countless millions of others.

What those others have is some combination of cable, satellite, or a streaming service offering ESPN.

The broadcast channels ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX are free over the air and are a no brainer. Amazon won't likely come close to competing with that.

He was already a coordinator at Oregon and he was like having a second head coach per @OregonDucks and I’m sure he dominated while he was there. No way he was a failure.

Utah was a hell of a lot better program in the MWC at that time than what UNLV is today. IIRC, the MWC was pretty damn good with Utah, TCU and Boise those last few years.

When Chris Del Conte was the AD at TCU he stated on more than one occasion that difference between G5 money and P5 money made a HUGE difference in what they were able to do.

But we are supposed to believe that people are going to flock to watch Cal vs Washington State and Stanford vs Oregon State

"Normal" CFP fans aren't going to watch those type games if they are free or not. Same as those type games in any other conference. The big draw games are going to require "names" and/or winning teams.
