San Diego State to the P12

Maybe that goes to show FOX doesn't really get the viewers they think they get. I still think if it came down to ESPN or FOX I'd want to be in a conference that had a deal with ESPN. ESPN/ABC > FOX

Dude.

Broadcast games on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX do better than ESPN by itself.

He's just dumb. It's the Pac 12, not FOX causing low viewership for those games. The Big 10 does just fine. It's just hard to find many people outside the West Coast that care about most of the Pac 12

Dude UNLV only has 2 winning seasons in football since 2000. They suck. Nobody cares about them either.

Their basketball program is not good now either, its been 10 seasons since theyve made the tournament and theyve only made it 6 times since 2000.

Vegas is a ok market but that clearly does not mean UNLV is ever going to be any good.
I'll beat your fucking ass!!!

I brought up the NFL because we already have a blueprint for NFL ratings that include Amazon.

All by it's lonesome, Thursday night NFL on Amazon is no higher than 6th when competing with Sunday, Sunday Night, and Monday Night football and Sunday games are regional.

To think they'll compete with ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and ESPN for college football on Saturdays is laughable at best.
comparing NFL and college are not the same comparison. similar products but not the same product.

Utah was already a somewhat respectable program before they joined the Pac 12, ya dunderhead. They only had 2 losing seasons in the 20 years leading up to them joining the Pac 12. Including some pretty great success in the 2000s

UNLV has exactly 1 winning season (7-6) and 1 season where they finished 6-6 in that same time span.

It's not even comparable.
UNLV also has a new practice facility, and plays in an NFL stadium, and trending upward. They also have an Oregon coach, so yeah, stuff it.

If the Pac can find a way to make population and time zone issues go away, they stand a fighting chance. The only way to do that would be to offer their game of the week on a night that's not spoken for like a Tuesday.

Even then they'll have to kick-off no later than 7pm (ET).

Yea. A program like UNLV does not automatically become good just because they join the Pac 12.

UNLV has NEVER been a good program at any point in their history. 189-325-3 is their all time record since becoming a FBS team. That's awful.

Yet now we are expect to believe they will suddenly turn it around just because they join a bigger conference.
Seriously this time, where is your closest Jason's Deli?

Lol. This is most that UNLV has ever been talked about on any sports message board on earth. Fuck you guys

LOL

We already have a blueprint for "football" that includes Amazon on Thursday nights.

Thinking that Amazon is going to compete with ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN on Saturdays in offering just Pac 12 football is a fairytale at best.

That's not really saying much, lol.

No one is saying they'll get no viewers. But considering Amazon is struggling to push meh Thursday Night NFL matchups. With absolutely zero other NFL competition that day, it's stupid to think they'll have great success pushing the Pac 12 outside of a few games a year that peak national interest.

If there's a chance for some exclusivity, I think the P12 could get decent ratings(750K-1Million) even if you aren't putting Oregon or Washington on Amazon. The best thing would be to try and get a Friday night late window. Kickoff time at 9:00 ET would be ideal IMO.

I don't think Amazon should be getting the best P12 game or even the 2nd best P12 game. It would definitely get lost in the shuffle between Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC and ESPN/2.

It all comes down to how much Amazon would be willing to pay to broadcast say 12 games a year. Even if they offered 40 Million a year, the P12 should do it. P12 basically get no money from the P12 Network so anything they would get from Amazon(assuming it's a lower-tiered game) is icing on the cake.

Also, none of this will matter if the schools remaining don't perform well on the field.

I'm sure Amazon will be happy to carry Pac football to the population of the west coast. So would ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and ESPN.

They're just not willing to pay Big 10/SEC monies for it.

The NFL draws way more views.

It's a natural assumption to think if Amazon is struggling to push their NFL product (on a night with no other NFL competition) they are really going to struggle to push the Pac 12, which already struggles with viewership

Amazon would basically be starting from scratch in marketing the Pac 12. They are also very new to the sports game.

That's a hard go against ESPN and Fox who are already established and marketing much more marketable conferences.

They could maybe pull off some decent numbers streaming the Pac 12 Game of the Week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday nights.

Says a lot about the Pac 12 that they would need gimmicky MAC and Sun Belt type tactics to draw viewers.
says a lot about you that you consider Red Alerts idea as if it says a lot about the pac 12 like they would do that.

I don't see why that's a bad thing? The B1G does it(obviously not every week), and has had a lot of success with it the last couple seasons. There are ratings there to be had, regardless of teams. The biggest issue is start times. 21 out of the 30 largest cities are either ET or CT. Games starting between 10:00-11:00 ET simply cant rate that well because most of the population is sleeping.

They can get good ratings, they just need to be creative. Admittedly, the deal they negotiated, that they are currently in, is a very poor deal, both monetarily and from an exposure standpoint. And the P12 Network has been a huge bust, on top of everything else. It also hasn't helped they've put a lousy product on the field, until this year, the last 5/6 years.

a lousy product? based on what? people telling you it was a lousy product? did you watch the games? not all of them but any of them? some were good some where bad no different than other conferences.

wondering if this happens (which latest reports say if it does its not this week) i wonder where the Mountain West looks next. North Dakota State? one of the Montana schools?

This would be a good move
