CFP Rankings Nov. 15

Clemson has been straight up competing at a high level for 5-6 years. Only the last two seasons have they experienced a drop off. They are the second strongest program after Alabama over last 10 years.
Why has Clemson experienced a drop off? I will give you a hint. He wears #5.

I am not splitting hairs on this scenario. A lot of it sounds fine. I want to know what the CFP is going to really "consider", what the CFP is going to put more "weight" on, and any talking out of both sides their mouth crap they come up with. If LSU wins out, they still have two losses. One was a serious beatdown at home, the other to a decent FSU. Will the CFP consider that this game was very early on? Or will time of game not matter? If so, didn't Georgia beat Oregon very early on?

Georgia beat Tennessee and Oregon, even their worst wins were against teams that have at least 4 wins. Tennessee beat LSU and Alabama. Their worst win came against a 1-9 Akron team. Tennessee (away) beat LSU badly, Georgia (home) beat Tennessee badly. Will the CFP consider this a wash?

I feel that Georgia beats LSU, but I bet the CFP never thought that it could be a 2 loss SEC champ in the mix.

I think about everyone on the bubble of the playoff is praying that UGA wins.

LSU winning will cause the biggest cluster fuck we've seen with the CFP. Lots of pissed off people no matter what direction they decide to go with it

Come on now. Aren't you a fan of chaos in this wonderful sport? If FSU could have just sucked one more year, would we be talking about LSU? Ha!

Yes. Even if FSU was like a 6-6 team that loss was pretty much forgotten the moment LSU started beating Ole Miss and Bama.

I just want to see the CFP committee put in a real bind. I'd like to see a one loss champion in all P5 conferences. That would require Georgia and the Ohio State/Michigan winner to lose in the CCGs. In the case of the latter than seems damn near impossible because of the B1G West. But it'd be fun to watch.

Here's my opinion if such happens. If they "really" are interested in "the best four" it would be four from the five of Georgia, Tenn, tOSU, Michigan and LSU. Sorry USC, UCLA, TCU, Clem, North Carolina, or who comes out. You ain't one of the best four this year IMO.

Yeah one issue in CFB, is that they don't play enough games, especially OOC games. Teams in other sports loss sometimes to bad teams early in the season but get better as season goes on. Happens all of the time in Basketball and other sports and it is less impactful in the scheme of things.

I mean in NFL, you had the 9-7 Bengals beat both Titans and Chiefs to go to Superbowl.

I hope there is complete chaos. It'd be awesome to see all the threads of fans who feel slighted. That being said -- no matter the chaos, I don't see Michigan getting in unless they win out, but I KNOW many UM slappies will scream how they belong.

I think that with the exception of Clemson, the rest of that group has a chance to lose and drop out.

I don't think UNC would beat a single current top 15 team. I can't think of a worse P5 9-1 team i've ever seen off the top of my head.

Where have I said it guarantees success? Nowhere. What I said is -- you aren't competing on a yearly basis with the teams consistently bringing in top 5 recruiting classes. You CAN have a year where you breakthrough with an all everything QB -- See Auburn w/ Cam Newton, see LSU w/ Joe Burrow, see FSU w/ Jameis Winston. Each one of them were the #1 pick in the NFL draft.

You aren't consistently competing for national titles unless you have the recruiting. You mention Clemson but they are a team that has been blessed with the recruiting and all-american QB's -- see DeShaun Watson who just signed a $250 million contract in the NFL and #1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence.

I swear -- it is like fans of some teams just refuse to look at reality. I'm a Michigan fan and I'm not foolish enough to think UM is going to just start dominating Ohio State, when each year they bring in much more talent.

You're a narrow minded moron who takes zero time to evaluate all aspects of the game.

There are no receivers, OL, DL, DB's, etc.. making plays.
There is no Head Coach and staff getting the pieces put together and getting people lined up right.

Clemson's issues run a lot deeper than just QB. There is a obvious drop off there of course from what they have had. But the WRs just aren't good either, the OL is shaky and the defense is not on the elite level anymore, it's still decent but not elite. Theyve fallen off at about every position.

I get your point. Honestly I dont think Ohio St is a top 4 but they have their chance to prove how good they are vs Michigan. If they win they definitely are top 4. My issue is I think there is a big gap between Georgia and everyone else. Put them on a field and straighten it out but at this point I think Ohio St would be dogs by 10-14 points. I think they would crush Michigan again. We will see how they play against LSU but if they put it on them…I think they repeat unless things dramatically change. Even when UGA struggled I still felt they were by far the best team in the nation

Yeah, I also think they have lost key coordinators like Brent Venables.

Not to mention coaching turnover.

I think we are a top 4 team.

It's UGA and then the field right now though. You are right on that.

They are clearly the most "complete" team

Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, LSU, USC, Clemson all have their issues in their own ways. I don't think you can really for sure say any of those teams would definitely beat one another (well maybe they would all beat Clemson)

I guess looking at the rest of the top 10 Ohio St is a top 4 team this year. There does seem to be a gap. We have seen a gap in recent years but it was never a one team gap. Bama-Clemson, even throw Ohio St and other teams year in and year out. This year it’s UGA. We will see though

Georgia lost very little if anything when they lost Lanning at DC.

I think Ohio State is probably the best equipped to maybe beat UGA.

I think they are going to roll over LSU in the SEC title game, but I've been wrong about LSU a lot this year.

Michigan pretty much plays right into UGAs hands (as we saw last year)

TCU and USC are both in the category where their offenses seem likely to hit the wall if they play a elite team like UGA and their defenses aren't good enough to make up for it.
