That’s the thing the pool is so shallow and the old way of doing this doesn’t necessarily work anymore.I feel that they need someone big. Playing in that conference, the expectations, the money they have, etc. I am not sure any of these "looks good now because they are 9-3, 10-2" G5 coaches fit the bill for Auburn. This is a program that wants to win the division, conference, and be in the running for a CFP slot. I know it expands to 12 teams in the near future and all that. They have had 11 double digit win seasons since I was born (almost half a century).
So, who is this 'big" name I speak of? You tell me.
I’m with you on this. I just think Cutcliffe seems to have a better demeanor for being a mentor than some of the other guys that are out there that have HC experience.I just threw that name out because its the first that came to me but if you hire Caddy he is going to need someone that isn't on his staff whom he can get honest feedback and answer questions. I'm not saying this would be a defacto coach but someone that has been there before and has your best interest in mind so a coach for the coach.
Of course since its a good idea they won't do it and honestly it wouldn't work for most but Caddy is so humble and honest that it would be a positive for him.
They probably ain’t interested in a GR after this Harsin episode. But if they were, I’d go after the UTSA guy.Who is the Troy coach?
He turned them around from 5-7 to 10-2 with a shot at a conference title this year. Might give him a call. He at least has connections in Alabama, Georgia and Florida unlike Harsin
Why can't they just accept that they're the Nebraska of the Deep South?Barn fans overrate what they are as a program. Throwing all my hatred aside for a second Barn needs some one who will do the following:
1. Go at least 8-4/9-3 every year
2. Jump up and compete for Conference title/playoff spot at least once every 4 or 5 years
3. Hold your own vs Alabama.
Kinda like Gus Malzahn did
New coach. Why can't they just accept that they're the Nebraska of the Deep South?
I mean, even Nebraska finally accepts who and what they are
Oh, sorry, forgot y'all "got the guy" againNew coach.
Huskerz fer champs
Oh, sorry, forgot y'all "got the guy" again
There aren't enough orphans and homeless in Auburn to fill the stadium. Why can't they just accept that they're the Nebraska of the Deep South?
I mean, even Nebraska finally accepts who and what they are
That will never happen.I've read Muschamp rumors.
Well, we could bus some down from the Shriner's hospital, or something. Would hate to see you guys contractedThere aren't enough orphans and homeless in Auburn to fill the stadium.
I’d say at Auburn, who is not a traditional power, having a coach that gives their biggest rival while being coached by the GOAT more trouble than any other coach, it should mean a lot
Saban is getting older now and seems to be slipping a bit, this should be Auburn’s window coming up, but replacing Malzahn with Harsin has set them back years
It's a Georgia troll a response wasn't necessary. You can argue about that one. I guess it depends on what you define as a "power" but I would say Auburn could arguably be in the top 10 programs right now and is definitely top 15. You put Auburn in the B1G, for example, they are the second strongest program over last 20 years in that league.
Auburn has also been consistently good for a long time. Even in the 1980s and 1990s, Auburn had good teams and were winning 10 games every once in a while. They had a drop off in late 1990s and early 2000s until Tommy Tuberville brought them back to prominence in the 2003/2004 time period. Tuberville had some good Auburn teams and then you had the Gene Chizik title run in 2010 and then Gus has had some good teams although he only played for a title in 2013.
You're hired to start organizing the logistics.Well, we could bus some down from the Shriner's hospital, or something. Would hate to see you guys contracted
