Ohio State out bid for 5 star recruit.........................

But back to the topic

Some thoughts on NIL in CFB
1. I have a hard time believing most of the $$ I hear these players are getting unless there's some serious stipulations in the contracts
2. I wouldn't want my school participating in trying to out bid other schools for unproven HS players and who can immediately leave when ever.
3. On the flip side, I think bidding for more proven transfer portal players will be big in CFB. If Drake Maye wasn't a UNC die-hard, imagine the amount of offers this kid would be getting to transfer anywhere
4. Coaching staffs, path to Pro, facilities, etc still matter and the highest bid will not win everytime. Some schools/coaches have a good track record of getting players to the Pros. These NIL sign-on bonuses are only short-term income, I rather send my kid to somewhere who can maximize their future. For less money, I'm sending my kid as a QB to Lincoln Riley/ Ryan Day. If he was a top level defensive player, I'd send him to Venables / Smart.

Spot on.

Agree entirely about portal > HS recruits. I think this will even out in the near future also. I can't see this endless spending continuing at schools like Miami, A&M, Florida, etc. unless they actually start winning games. The portal is gonna be a major cash cow though.

Also, I'm not so sure about Venables. Holy shit, that Oklahoma defense was atrocious this year.

I really don't want to go on and on with this, but the racist aspect is that he literally says that there are 49 black players in the top 50, and just one white, the implication being that the 49 black recruits are poor and the one white kid is not. That's a paternalistic, patronizing, racist POV.
Where did I say anything about the white kid being rich? I simply pointed out that the demographic you are most likely going to be recruiting. Now that makes me racist? That is priceless. You should change your name to snowflake, it'd be perfect you.

Don't let facts get in a way of your diatribe on how pointing out statistical facts now makes someone a racist. :pound:

Go back to your fantasy world where all the top recruits want to go to Georgia "because of the culture", while all these recruits talk and they know full well how much recruits are getting from other schools. Then tell everyone here about your "inside information" because you are dumb enough to pay these sites for their opinions on the program. How about this -- send me $10 a month and I will tell you anything you want to hear about Georgia football.:pound:

My favorite part is -- admitting Georgia used bag men in the past, but NOW, when it is legal -- he likes to believe Georgia doesn't do that. You can't make this up. Pure comedy.

I must've missed the part about the 49 black players all being poor and the 1 white kid not being poor then. However, as of 2021, around 20% of black people in the US live below the poverty line while the average for all races is around 11%, and white/Asian people are around 8%. Again, stating statistics doesn't make you a racist, but I guess I don't speak for that guy's actual meaning. I agree, no need to go on and on.
You didn't miss anything because it was never said. It was @WhosYourDawggy attempt to try and make me look like I was racist. All I did was point out facts. And in reality -- the top 50 isn't 49-1. There are 3 white QB's in the top 50. I simply stated there was only 1 white non-QB in the top 50. So do I now call him racist for assuming all of the others were black?

He realizes (I hope) how ridiculous he sounds saying Georgia isn't offering recruits anything and they have to earn their NIL, while also stating Georgia used bag men in the past. So just to recount what was said -- Georgia would pay recruits when it was illegal, but now they won't when it is legal. Since I pointed out his hypocrisy -- he has moved the goal post to now calling me racist for pointing out statistical facts.

You have to give him time to bring in guys. OU was void of talent defensively for quite a while -- I think in a few years, he will have OU playing much better defense and I think we will see them look much different even this upcoming year.

Didnt read but Hopefully the NIL thread didn't turn into a thread on racism right?
I was called a racist because I stated most of these top recruits will have their hand out because they are 17 and 18 years old and alot of them have come from nothing growing up. Many have come from 1 parent households. Many have come from families living paycheck to paycheck.

I pointed out the statistical variables in just the top 50 recruits and Who'sYourSnowflake decided by pointing out these facts -- I was now racist.

Oh yeah -- and Georgia doesn't give recruits any NIL -- they have to come on the team and earn their NIL, but when it was illegal, Georgia gave money to recruits.

I think I've caught you up completely on the thread.

This last part, you very well may not be wrong on. I honestly don't know so I'm not going to say you're wrong.

He's not wrong about statistics that show how big an issue it is in the black community regarding single-parent households and how disproportionately this impacts the black community. This is well documented and has been for many years. It's not necessarily an issue with football recruits, but it's more likely to be the case with a black recruit than other races. It's just a sad truth, so saying they'd go after the NIL money doesn't make him a racist, it makes him a realist. He's not saying it's going to happen every single time but he's right, it's just a higher likelihood. I also don't think it's racist to point out why they would do it; I'd never blame a kid who grew up poor for taking an immediate help for his family. You just have to hope it ends up working out in the end.
Hell, it isn't just the poor that go after the NIL money. tOSU got one that gave up his senior year in high school in order to get NIL money. And South Lake Carroll damn sure doesn't have students from poor homes....black, white or any frickin' color! I wouldn't even consider them middle class.

All these kids talk -- with social media, all the top recruits in the country talk. With all the national camps, the 7 v 7's, the former teammates who are now on college rosters. They know what each other is being offered and what they can get from certain schools, etc.

It is so unbelievably arrogant to try and say ANY school is pulling top 5, top 10, top 15, top 20 classes and telling every recruit, we don't have any NIL for you, but you can earn it on the field. These top 50, top 100 type recruits have a winning lottery ticket and they can cash it in -- there is no guarantee that lottery ticket will still be there in 3, 4 years.

You are so self-unaware of what you are saying, dude. Just stop doubling down. You are doing it again ... assuming the top recruits are poor and wanting a hand out because they are black. Give it up, dude.

I've posted numerous posts about UGA and their position on NIL. You refuse to believe what is being said by Smart himself, and then Josh Pate and other CFB analysts. They agree with me, not you. But you be you. I've posted the receipts.

By the way, I've never said I was an insider. That said, I do get insider information because at 63 and successful in life I hang around people who do have access to insider info that they share with me. Just yesterday a guy I know well who works within the UGA football teams messaged me some intel for my personal use. So, yeah, I have some insider info that I do share here that goes beyond what you get from pay sites. I assume most people where would prefer to hear that type of info, but if you don't you can Ignore me. Won't hurt my feelings.

Yet, that is exactly what is happening, even if you don't want to believe it. What's arrogant is thinking you know better than people that are around CFB and insiders. You've bought into it hook line and sinker and can't understand why the better teams won't play that game bidding for recruits.

I'll post it again ... watch and learn. You think Josh Pate is full of shit? Because he is backing what I am saying and telling you that you are full of shit.

You can copy and paste til your hearts content. You can talk about how the players have to earn NIL deals on the field, but when you have 85 scholarships and 95 players on the team with NIL deals (according to your own coach) -- that spells it out for you. They are handing out deals to every player. So if you think Georgia is doing that, unless you are saying 95 players earned their NIL deals on the field and NOT having deals set up for top recruits, EVEN THOUGH THEY USED BAG MEN IN THE PAST, I can't help you.

Ewers, who I was referring to, didn't even get his first NIL offer from any "collective" or such connected to Ohio State. He got one prior to his senior year from a DFW group and Texas doesn't allow such for HS kids. So, he left Texas enrolled at Ohio State and rode the bench for them in what would have been his senior year. And I repeat. I doubt there is one kid enrolled in Southlake Carroll High School that is eligible for free/reduced lunch. I drive by that high school very often because both my daughters and their families live in Keller which is right next door to Southlake. Ewers family didn't need NIL money in the least and he took it. Some kids from all economic backgrounds will take it.

Dude 100 percent had no goal to stay at OSU. Maybe had Stroud struggled but to have such little patience and so much arrogance that you transfer when it's clear your seat is coming up next is lame as fuck

I will, and you keep making shit up. Tell me where Josh Pate is wrong? Is he lying? Do you not believe what he said. Don't say another fucking word until you address his video that destroys your ramblings.

Yes, PWOs get NIL deals. As I stated above, you get deals for being on the team. They all do basic charity work, signings, etc., even the PWOs. I think the average is about $50K. I never said it had to be on the field performance, although it should be obvious to even someone as mentally challenged as you that the better you do on the field the more you get. QBs, of course; someone like our kicker Specs would have made a ton because he is a quirky guy. That's how it is supposed to work and that's how we are doing it. You keep dreaming, but I keep proving you wrong and you keep making shit up.

So Georgia doesn't offer NIL to recruits but every player is making roughly 50k? And you don't think this is told upfront to recruits that you come to Georgia and you will make roughly $200,000 over 4 years to do "basic charity work"? And this is you saying Georgia doesn't offer NIL money to recruits and they have to earn it? That is exactly what that is.

It is no different than Texas saying they will give every OL on the roster $50,000 to do "charity work".

I will, and you keep making shit up.
Snowflake,

It is priceless you are saying I'm making shit up. You literally turned this discussion into me being racist for pointing out statistical facts. All the while saying Georgia doesn't offer NIL to recruits, then saying every player on the team makes on average 50k to do "charity work".

One of us is making shit up, but it isn't me.

What about Josh Pate? You going to just ignore that? Shut the fuck up and tell me where he is wrong.

You seriously don't read what you post about, do you? I've addressed all this, in this fucking thread ... I beg of you, read the whole thread before posting again, because you have no idea what you are even resonding to.

As I clearly stated, we are not saying, "you come to UGA, and we will give you $100,000." That is pay-for-play. We aren't doing that. Period. What we are doing is saying, "look at what we have done for our existing players - everyone is earning at least $50,000. Some are earning more - KM2 is getting money from this company. Stetson is getting X from this company. Bowers is earning this amount. Here is a list of companies that our guys have worked with. If you come here, we will have multiple collectives to help you build a brand and can help you make money like our current guys are. But if you want us to cut a check for $100,000 before you get here and prove your worth, we will take a pass." We've lost multiple highly rated players this year for this very reason.

You can disbelieve that all you want, but if you pay one coming in, you have to pay them all. Kirby ain't playing that game.

As for your bagman comment, read better. I stated clearly that we were in the bagman business, just like you guys and eveyone else was. I'm neither stupid nor naïve. I also stated that an argument can be made that what I describe is "pay for play" and that it's really form over substance ... we are using NIL to entice players to come to UGA, but we are doing it by having them get here first and then earn it. That's the original intent of NIL and that is the way we are doing it. I am 100% confident of that.

I posted that yesterday ... you don't read, you just run off at the mouth. You never stop to think that maybe the person you are mouthing off to actually might be right. You thought you had me here, yet I posted all of this 24 hours ago.
