First, nice paternalism ... as if all football recruits are poor inner-city kids. Some are poor, but many are solidly middle-class families. You don't have to engage. Here is the conversation to help you out.
Then you said to re-read it. So I did, which is where I got this quote FROM YOU.
You truly think these superstar 17 and 18 year old inner city kids who see football as their way out are turning down guaranteed NIL money so they can go be a part of "georgia's culture" and the possibility of getting some NIL deals if they earn it. It is tough to even type that out with a straight face.
It is your story though -- so more power to you. I will tell you right now, there isn't a chance in hell that is what is happening though.
Second, and this is where you can't read or understand what you read, I never said that they are only coming to UGA for the culture. Sheesh, read, for fuck sake. I said that those who are only out for NIL wouldn't get NIL from UGA just to come to UGA. This is the truth. So, if they are superstar 17 and 18-year-old inner-city kids, they won't play at UGA if they hold their hands for money to be recruited. We've lost some good recruits because of that, and our coaches appear to be okay with that. And there are a ton of kids who get this ... and this will be the way it will go in the next 5 years because boosters won't keep throwing away money to unproven talent when you can - in five years - show them what they can make when they come to your school, work hard, and earn it.
And finally, if you could comprehend what I posted, they are coming expecting NIL. Duh. I never said otherwise. But, they are expecting it because UGA provides it to those that are in the program and earn it. How could you not have understood what I wrote? You got your panties in a twist and stopped reading. Others have tried the "we will pay you to come here" without making them earn it. It hasn't worked very well, has it? ATM has 25 players in the portal.
I brought up culture because the reason UGA isn't giving out handouts coming in is because that fucks up the culture. It was obvious that was going to happen, and it did. UGA, and other similar programs, realize that it's talent and culture that wins NCs. So they will pass on some higher-rated recruits that come in with their hands out, because they don't want to fuck with the culture. Because not all the great recruits are poor inner-city kids like you patronizingly think they are, there are plenty that come in knowing they will get NIL when it's earned, get it when it's earned, and that enables us to have talent and culture.
I am not typing this again, so read and learn. And if you can't keep a straight face when you read this, you aren't keeping up with current events. Because that is what is being done at UGA and other winning programs.
