My license expires next month so I decided to get a "Real ID' that will allow air travel should I decide to do so. So I end up going to the DMV which is akin to having a drano enema, stand in line and go through all of their bullshit only to find out that my certified birth certificate copy is not sufficient forcing me to go to the Health Dept and pay 20 bones for a "certified" certified copy if that makes sense.

For Christ Sake, I am 62 years old. Who the hell my age has their original birth certificate. If you ask me, these is only a ruse by Homeland Security to line the pockets of local government. I went there with a tax bill, a copy of my W2, and all sorts of other shit to prove who I was yet still needed an effin birth certificate. Fuck that noise.

yeah, it's fucking ridiculous. i'm 39 and i doubt anyone has seen my original one, including either of my parents, in decades. i have to eventually go get that done, not looking forward to it.

In order for me to work in Curacao, I needed a Apostille certificate (Hague Convention) on my original birth certificate. The notary was easy, but the apostille was a lot more difficult.

Goddamn bureaucrats! I decided the "Real ID" can go fuck itself. I've already been charged $140- something for my passport, so fuck all the way off. I'll get a regular ID and use my passport for everything else.

Same, same. Had to cancel a trip because I could not get a passport without my B.C.

I've kept up with it for years and saw it fairly recently but when I went look in folder it was always in....it seems to have vanished. It's been in that same folder, within the same filing cabinet for decades, unneeded...the second I'm ever required to produce it and it disappears!

Yeah I need to get mine but have another year now. I have my original birth cert, my issue is going to be finding my original social security card. No clue where that thing is.

I had to go to the courthouse to get a certified BC to get my marriage license. That was 16 years ago. I still have that one.

I do, but when I tried to use mine for a Real ID, they told me I needed to get another one.
You see, when I was a teenager, I tried to alter the year of my birth on my birth certificate in hopes it would allow me to be able to drink. I fucked up the attempt, though, so it did no good. I figured the DMV probably wouldn't accept it, but I had to try.

I do. I think that certification on my driver's license was called a STAR ID or some shit though.

You should be able to get by with a copy of your most recent W2. Just something to show a SS number.

I think my mom might have it still. I have my Social card.

I've had a passport since high school, though, so I just used that

Can you provide me with some more details, as to better direct ICE on where to go?

I have my original birth certificate and SS card, though I'm an American that was born in this country, so easy enough to have on hand.

It's an end-around to installing a National ID card. I find it difficult to believe that the country will really restrict all air travel, unless you have a passport or Real ID, by next year, I think it is. At the very least, that deadline will get extended.
