Colorado Fans are delusional

That’s not a surprise, right? But it’s not close to enough to compete for even a conference championship. Terrible team, flashy hire. Can only get better. Can’t go down. Question is how far up he can go.

He's been on the job, for what 6 weeks? The fact that he has them in the top 30 of the recruiting rankings is pretty fucking good. Colorado's avg recruiting rank the decade prior was 55.9. He's basically cut that in half.

What's your expectation for Colorado. They've been pretty awful for 2 decades now, 2016 aside. This isn't the 80's and 90's anymore. I think the hire proves they are more committing to winning, so I think that's good for him. I'd say if he got them to a bowl game next year, that would be pretty good. As for moving forward, if he continues to land top 25/30 classes(which might be on the low end), he will have them in contention for P12 titles moving forward.

It's not my expectation that counts. It's the fanbois and disproportionate response to this that I am making fun of. We coming.

Here is what I think is going to happen:

- He will be able to land a handful of players in his few years there, most of whom will be "look at me" type guys who think the hype is cool, or will be persuaded by large NIL deals.
- He will bring in a lot of transfers each year, none of whom are really all that good.
- He will not be able to build a culture that can win consistently.
- His "it's all about me" schtick will start to get old fairly fast ... the reality TV aspect of the program will turn off top recruits.
- He will lose games he shouldn't lose ... because they won't have a culture needed for winning at the top level.
- He will jump as soon as he can to a new team that wants the hype to go from being irrelevant to mediocre.

It's Colorado. He needs to create hype since there hasn't been any for 2 decades. He's hired a pretty good staff under him, so I think that bodes well for him. I think given how little time he's been on the job, he's already exceeding expectations as far as getting kids to go there. They're going to have to outscored people here at the beginning of his tenure but he has a really good OC, and really talented skill guys coming in.

His recruiting is exactly where I would think it would be. Not good enough to be competitive. The problem is that I don't think it will get better once the buzz wears off. We'll see.

I do like the guy from Kent State.

He doesn't have to create hype, hype oozes from his pores. Deon is hype, and not much more.

Not competitive enough to compete for national titles, but if he keeps them in the 25/30 range, and brings in good transfers, he can definitely compete for P12 titles. Which if he does win one will qualify them for an expanded CFP spot.

Also, I think he can get Colorado to top 15 classes when he has more than 2 weeks to put together a HS class.

I think the model where they are a decent around 8 win team per year with maybe a 10 win season and a run at the PAC title every like 3-5 years is attainable. Problem is will Deion stick around long enough to get to that point?

Gonna be interesting to see what Coach Prime can do.

At the P5 level, he won't have the talent advantage he did at the HBCU level.

We'll see if he can actually coach.

He had some kids on his team that never would have chosen an HBCU without him being there.

What makes you think Colo would beat Nebraska? No one turns a team around that fast. They were what, 1-11 last year? His son isn't that good a QB, and none of the freshman should contribute. Nebraska may have had some tough times, but they will be far more talented than Colorado. And a better coach. CSU seems a W, then 4 losses.
we literally just saw

Tulane 2-10 to 12-2
USC go 4-8 to 11-3
TCU 5-7 to 13-2

and its only been since 2019 that Colorado did beat Nebraska. there could be players still there that did that.

Difference here is that Colorado was beyond awful this year. All but 1 of their losses came by at least 23 points. with 7 of them coming by 30+ points.

The mentioned above were bad in 2021 but nowhere near as bad as 2022 Colorado was, they got a long way to go.

Colorado fans were the worst in the BIG 8. Rude, biligernet, just trashy.

Was a pleasure to bitch slap them around for decades.

8 of those 17 wins and 1 tie came during the worst time in our program, after we fired Barry and before we hired Bob.

I would have thought they would be more wine and cheese type of fans.

They have a two game winning streak..

Michigan State has won the Big10 a few times with recruiting classes only in the 30s and 40s so Colorado may be able to do that in the PAC12.

They very well could. Their 2023 class ranks 3rd in the PAC-12 (29th overall), and one of those schools will be leaving in a year. UCLA's the next PAC-12 school at #35, and they're also leaving soon.
