Watching basketball, drinking and finishing the rankings is all I have on my schedule.
Rodman and Scottie both have the athleticism that they could make it MORE difficult for Lebron and KD to score. But thinking that they're going to just shut them down is absolute nonsense.
I would agree in most cases, but Rodman shut down Shaq once. Rodman is just different.Rodman and Scottie both have the athleticism that they could make it MORE difficult for Lebron and KD to score. But thinking that they're going to just shut them down is absolute nonsense.
Lebron is Lebron. He's 6'9", ultra athletic, extremely strong, built like a linebacker. Has a handle and now he can score at all 3 levels at a high level.
KD is one of the best scorers in NBA history. He's 7'0" with guard skills. He's got a killer mid range and 3 ball. He's got an incredible handle for a guy his size. There's no shutting him down.

tt’s funny when older players, from different eras, say they can stop a player in today’s game. I guarantee Rodman would not be guarding Lebron anyway unless they switch in the post. Lebron is too quick for him. Going full speed not one player can stop him.Feels a little like recency bias. They are both excellent players no question but if they played in the 90's things may have been a little different.
Shaq is a way different matchup than LBJ or KD. Totally different skillset. Rodman only has to guard near the paint.I would agree in most cases, but Rodman shut down Shaq once. Rodman is just different.
Iggy imo was one of the best defenders on Lebron and he played against him quite a bit especially in those Finals. He knew his moves yet Lebron would still go over 30 7 and 7. He made him earn his buckets and forced him into some bad shooting nights for sure. I could see the same thing with Pip. Not shutting him down. Rodman could be like Dray, switch onto him at times but Lebron getting the best of him most times but making his life difficult. Very comparable in different eras.Rodman and Scottie both have the athleticism that they could make it MORE difficult for Lebron and KD to score. This is a complete miss on what Rodman was. I pointed out the Shaq thing to highlight how ridiculous he is as an athlete to shut down Shaq at 6'7". He was not known as a paint defender. He is one of the greatest on-ball defenders of all time.Shaq is a way different matchup than LBJ or KD. Totally different skillset. Rodman only has to guard near the paint.
Good luck running around screens to defend a 7 footer shoot a 30 footer. Then if you get to close to contest the could call a foul interfering with his landing spot. Impossible to block that shot but really defend in general. Like I said, Rodman would not be guarding KD unless he was on the block where Rodman could be bully him.
