This isn't the worst thing in the world. Sure, CW isn't ideal, but it's better than a mostly streaming package. I get it's easy to make fun of the P12, but there was a time when Big 12 and SEC games were on TBS, and P12 games aired on Versus. If there is a good, compelling game on between two ranked teams, people will make a point to find it and watch it.

If CW is good enough for Saudi Crown Prince LIV golf, it is good enough for….

I agree. Having a majority of your games on TV is important, even if it's not a network that traditionally carries college football.

I still dont get why this is supposed to be a dig. never once have i watched a game and gave 2 shits about what was on before or after. There are plenty of times between games theres just random local fluff. when baseball is on TBS do people care if its young sheldon or big bang or any of their other rerun shows on right before or after?

like literally your mentality is oh my god the CW is showing masters of illusion before the game between #5 Utah and #9 Washington this game is gonna suck

Any chance they can lead in games with a new episode of Maury? I'd rather watch that then college gameday or big noon

Everyone gets CW and not everyone gets the PAC-12 Network. Hell I remember watching Cubs and Bulls game because I got WGN. It's college football on a channel that everyone with cable gets. It's a win.

WHY are Oregon,Washington, Zona/ASU/Utah/Colorado not making tracks for the Big12 if the BIG/SEC are not options which seems to be the case ATM?

why woud they? that sounds like a horrible plan.

Because the Big 12 is now a G5. Haven’t you heard?

A few observations:

- I doubt CW has the budget that FOX/ESPN do, and they like the streaming services, will have to create their entire production operation from scratch. That means fewer cameras, crappier cameras, and lesser people calling the games. No one is leaving ESPN or FOX to go to the CW.

- The historical things you cite were well before ESPN and FOXSports became the gold standard for sports coverage.

- Whether it matters or not, it will keep the casual observer from watching the games. I often will flip through ESPN and FS later on Saturday to see what's on. I doubt I would scroll down far enough to find a CW game.

It is what it is, and my reason for pointing it out is to simply show that this is not good for the PAC. It will give more ammo for teams to leave to get better coverage. You can be sure Lanning and other coaches aren't liking the idea that their recruits have to watch the game on the CW. I am still of the belief that it all comes apart at the seams.

Then you don't understand the "lead in" concept in the TV business.

Do you know what goes into the production of covering a half dozen games over a weekend? For each game, you have to have a crew that includes producers, directors, personalities, announcers, etc. You have to have equipment, and a lot of it. Even ESPN has problems once they get down to ESPN Ocho - they have fewer cameras, worse cameras so the picture isn't as good, and then Beth Mowen type announcers. To spin that up from scratch is going to be interesting.

Never mind that you won't have the quality of lead in programs like ESPN's Game Day, etc.

Recruits see all that. Coaches don't want that.

the Pac 12 already has all that stuff and it woundt surprise me if thats part of any deal that takes on the Pac 12. they have studios and shows people and cameras and announcers
lead in program? i change the channel most days over to a better game on a different channel.
gameday leads into Virginia vs Wake Forest or Purdue vs minnesota. meanwhile over on Fox Michigan vs Iowa and Oklahoma vs TCU on ABC.
Game day leads into a game first thing in the morning for west coast. the only time that happens is when the Pac goes east anyway.
People turn on a game because the game is going to be on. they dont turn it off because how i met your mother from 2012 is on before it.

The PAC 12 Networks is the ultimate wildcard left. The fact that the Networks are owned by the universities gives them flexibility on what to do in the next media contract. I wouldn't be surprised if they were sold or leased to a new media partner. As noted, the CW doesn't have a lot of the infrastructure needed but the PAC networks could simply give them the licensing rights to put it on their channel.

the "lead in" concept? i dont watch WWE because USA has Law and Order SVU on right before.
they can lead in Ohio State Michigan with a game Inidiana vs Purdue or Maryland vs rutgers and no one is gonna give half a shit.
