Nebraska had a total of zero players on it's 2022 roster from California.

Nebraska - 5
Iowa - 2
Minnesota - 1
Illinois - 1
Indiana - 1
Tennessee - 1
Kentucky - 1
Texas - 1
Utah - 1
I said it could help since CA has a lot of really good volleyball players.. trips to LA can't hurt, right?

Notre Dame played Cal, Stanford, and USC last season.

Distance from South Bend, IN to Los Angeles - 2091 miles
Distance from Lincoln, NE to Los Angeles - 1498 miles

But Nebraska going to California would be hard.

are you talking football or all sports? Cause they will work around it for football one way or the other.. it's the other sports.. Like ND plays it's other games with the ACC

BTW Cal and Stanford were home games, SC was in LA

Wouldn't help the volleyball team much.

It could/should help the football, baseball, and basketball teams though.

Nebraska's problem with those other sports is not being able to keep it's best talent home.

Does it really matter?

You're talking 4 teams out of 18 being on the left coast. They'll likely split 2 home and 2 away. So 2 trips to the left coast for any sport.

Nebraska opened it's baseball season with a 4 game series @ San Diego.

lol they wanted to play in 70 degree weather..imagine opening the season in 50 degree weather with gusts that makes it feel like it's in the 30s lol

Big 12 went for Cinci based on the Luke Fickell years.
Big 12 went for BYU, Cincy, UCF and Houston based on the fact there weren’t any better options available. They may have whiffed on all of them. But again, Houston was the teal headscratcher IMHO. I’d be willingvto bet there are more Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech fans in Houston than there are UH fans. Big 12 already had as many Texas eyeballs than they were going to get.

Probably wasn't even that. They also played a 3 game series @ South Alabama to follow San Diego.

They followed S. Alabama with 3 games in Minneapolis (March 3, 4, 5th).

I’d think the Houston add was because they’d want a competitive team. I know Houston didn’t have a stellar record last year but over the last decade they’ve had some really good teams.

No, they went with them because it's Houston.. they can say they have schools in the DFW market and now Houston. If UH is good, ppl wearing their stuff come crawling out the dark corners of the city.. but as soon as they aren't they quickly put back on their stros gear lol

SDSU has more wins over the last decade than all 4.
from G5 App state, Marshall, Louisiana, Memphis are behind UCF and Cinci but ahead of BYU and Houston

I’m cynical as hell but it sure seems like the quality of a school’s athletic performance doesn’t make a damn bit of difference if they can’t bring additional clout…aka viewership…with them. Even when UH is good they won’t draw eyeballs.

so.. in March, there were coog flags everywhere.. in the city they had posters and signs for the basketball team.. #1 seed and hosting the final 4.. all that disappeared overnight after it's friday night game upset..

Funniest part to me was watching the local news..there were watch parties on big screens outside downtown.. So the lead in after the games had finished was like this: "Tonight a double homicide took place in Southwest Houston..but first let's get you out to so and so who is at the watch party for UH basketball disappointing loss"... bro they were SAD.. like it was worse news than having a double homicide earlier in the evening

…and NONE of those you listed will bring significant or additional viewership that warrants more television revenue. None of them are brand names that bring such anymore than current Big 12 members. If SDSU was a significant brand, they could be 0-12 and they’d be coveted.

The exception is BYU. I think the LDS viewership will help the Big 12.

I’m not saying this to disparage any of them. I’m just saying there isn’t any big revenue bump that comes with any of them…or the ones that remain in the Big 12.

In all honesty, metropolitan Houston and the Metroplex are mainly Texas and A&M fans. (DFW does have a huge Red Raider contingent.). TCU is probably the 4th darling of the Texas schools in FW behind the other three. That’s just the cold hard reality.

I would prefer SD over UH anytime... better location, southern California.. UH doesn't bring anything other than the "TV market" which shows that they are far down the list..Houston is a pro sports city.. CFB is dominated by UT, aggy, LSU.. coogs probably are probably the 5th or 6th most popular College Football team watch in this market. Like you said earlier..they played Tech at Reliant because more Tech fans were at the game than UH. They will host UT in their shitty campus field this season just to jack up prices

there is a large amount of sooner fans and alumns that migrate to DFW.. to get away from the poverty known as oklahoma the state :)

what i was surprised about however, was the amount of Mizzu gear for sell at the sporting goods places i went to

Yes, I’m sure their bunch of years being good had nothing to do with it………

It depends On the situation but most likely having a quality athletic performance (particularly in football and basketball) is going to bring eyeballs. That’s why I figured they grabbed them. Otherwise yeah I’m not real sure why they added them.
