tOSU was far more competitive.

We beat UM pretty easily, and they got beat by TCU which is amazing to me.

Harbaugh found a way to build a team that can beat Ohio State but they are still a bit away from being able to beat a UGA or Bama type.

OSU put together two straight anti-OSU teams, and that's been largely on the defense. I'm not sure it's fair to give Harbaugh the credit for that.

You don't think planning for the best team in CFB makes you better against others? Might be why Ryan day is 0-2 vs. Harbaugh with his own players.

Not really bc no way Michigan can play it's normal game against Georgia unless they want to get spanked. So you are devoting time to a different game style for a team that is not on your schedule.

Also, while it is disappointing Day is 1-2 versus scUM he still has a playoff win and was a field goal away from what most likely would have been a national championship last season.

The jury is still out on Harbaugh beating bad OOC and Big 10 teams.

He did finally get over the Bo Pelini hurdle tho.

Harbaugh usually has always beat the teams he should. Outside of that 2020 year which we can just throw out for everyone at this point. He has not really had a big upset loss to a bad team.

Came close in a 32-29 win over Nebraska in 2021.

It took an Adrian Martinez fumble and a FG with the clock expiring to win that.

Yea but they still won. He's had his fair share of close escapes with games they shoulda won easily but to he does win them.

2021 they also scraped by Rutgers and a 7-6 Penn State team. But they won thats all that counts in the end.

Harbaugh now is essentially Jim Tressel without the national title. He can win the B1G but his teams in the given era aren't typically built to win the national title in the end.

Im going to laugh if Michigan ends up losing like 3 regular season games because they were spending practice time on a game they never even ended up playing.
It will be far more funny if we make it to the NC game against Georgia and win it. I'd LOL at that.

He's come close a few times. Last year we almost lost to Illinois right before OSU, had to kick a game winning field goal at the very end to win 19-17.

This is why I say Harbaugh is on par with Tressel.

Scrapes by some bums and saves their best game for Ohio State. Tressel constantly did the same, saved the best game for Michigan. But in the end has trouble competing with the elite teams in the post season.

I never actually believed coaches did this until Harbaugh -- but I truly believe that he was playing the most vanilla game possible, and saving everything possible, to try and hide it from Ohio State. I think he would have rather lost that game than given Ohio State the tape. He's a maniac.

Michigan is built to beat Ohio State and win the Big 10, but not necessarily to win the national title. Not saying they COULDNT because they've at least made the playoff. And one of these times they may, but after losing badly to UGA and managing to lose to a mundane TCU team in last years Semi i'd still say they are a bit away from being able to realistically say "yea they are gonna win it all"

Ohio State is built to be in better position to win national titles but not necessarily to always win the Big 10

funny how it works.

Shouldn't surprise you. TCU didn't even win their conference.

Come to think of it, neither did Ohio State.

Georgia beat two runner ups on their way to a natty. There may be a lot of wins over non conference champs once we get to the 12 team playoff.

In winning our 2 NCs, we beat -

B12 regular season champ - TCU
B1G champ - UM x 2
ACC champ - Clemson
PAC champ - Oregon

We good!

Anyone who is going to beat us this year better bring their O because our D is going to be as good if not better than 2021. We return 70% of last year's D starters, and most of the others played a lot. In the two previous years, we returned in the 40% range of starters.

I expect our offense to take a little step back. We will probably have to rely a little more on the run, at least until McCord/Brown settle in and the Oline gets its legs. I do expect our defense to improve though, especially with the additions and more depth in the secondary.

We play a conference game right away, but it's Indiana. So we have 3 games to figure things out before we go play @ ND. We probably won't know how good we really are until that game. I expect ND to be pretty good this year.

We are in reload mode right now, but next year will be as close to a rebuild as we will come. We have a new QB this year, but he has been there for 3 years. Our OL is mature and solid as hell. WR room is the best we've ever had and we have Bowers for one more year.
