I actually prefer just the even numbers. Too many numbers is a mess.

Less confusing than the Ram....

The other is the 'Auto Stop' when I stop (red light, etc.) the engine literally shuts off and restarts when I hit the gas.

I'm not sure how the whole thing works. i.e. Is the starter involved? If so I can see wearing out starters fairly routinely. Not to mention wear on the flywheel teeth. I guess I'll find out eventually.
The Ford's have a button that turns off the 'Auto Stop' feature.
But you have to hit it every single time you start the vehicle.

Just ask them this.... "Won't it wear out the Starter 200 times faster??"
Then when they answer with 'new technology', just look them in the eye and ask them "why have you been fucking me over for generations then" ...... That shuts their ass up quick. Fuck that.

Other things I'm not big on is the 'Parking break' automatically comes on if you're on any kind of an incline. You have to hit the gas pretty hard in order to disengage it.

yeah, that auto stop mechanism you see on so many newer model vehicles is such bullshit, i refuse to have one.

You can turn that shit off. Now the parking brake thing....that would drive me nutz!

oh, well that's good. for some reason, i was under the impression that it was a feature you HAD to accept and deal with, and if you somehow "disengaged" it, it would void the warranty or something. yeah, if the next vehicle I buy has that feature, you can be sure that sumbitch will stay in the "off" position

Yikes. That is busy.

Just make all the 10's, 20's, 30's, 40's etc. the same size.

Leave the km/h off on American vehicles and make it a digital setting option for if you take your vehicle overseas.

Ford has a better idea !!!

Have to turn 'off' the auto start/stop EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU START THE CAR.
Have to turn the cruise control 'on' EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU START THE CAR.
Have to turn the driving mode to 'sport mode' EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU START THE CAR.

I had a friend ask me if I was drunk a few weeks ago.

I pulled up, put my foot on the brake, let off the break and rolled a few feet forward to where I actually wanted to be parked. In that time it shut off and turned back on automatically. LOL

With my speedometer I use my cruise control now more than I ever have.

I do like the cruise control on this truck as I can toggle it up or down 1 mph at a time with my thumb instead of having to use the break or gas pedal to make a change.

Some newer cars don’t let you turn it off. On my car, I can turn it off and it stays off. On our Jeep, you have to turn it off every time you drive it. On my wife’s car, you can’t disengage it. Her car also has this really annoying lane departure system where if you try to change lanes without signaling, it pulls you back into the lane you were in. You can still muscle it over, but it’s super annoying.

It's weird. It automatically engages on any kind of an incline (up/down) when I shut it off.

When I start it, it says "PARK" in red letters on the speedometer. It continues to say "PARK" even when I put it in gear (Reverse/Drive).

It only goes off when I hit the gas and there's a lunge as it disengages.

Some engineer overthought that one IMO.

Another feature I'm not fond of is if I'm coming up on a slower vehicle it beeps at me and a green car outline shows up on the speedometer. The beep also comes through the stereo speakers.

Obviously it's a means of preventing me from slamming into the back of the other vehicle, but by the time it beeps it's already too late IMO.

I don't need that shit. I'm accident free since 1990, but even that one wasn't my fault. A dude ran a red light (where I had the green) and slammed into the back door of my drivers side spinning me 180°.
The driver was deaf and his passenger was communicating with him via lip reading or sign language, so he wasn't paying attention to his driving. Thankfully plenty of witnesses from both directions stopped and gave me their phone numbers to testify in case the dude denied running the red.
Which he did at the spot of the accident. I pointed up at the light and said "You had a red light", and he was shaking his head no. His insurance company inevitably paid for everything.

theres a simple mod for this
for about 50 bucks,
and about a 10 min install -
it remembers the setting during restart -

Does it void the warranty?

My 2009 Ram 1500 has a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (LPT), but it's void if I modify it in any way.
I can't even put a snowplow on that truck.

What year does a 2009 Ram 1500's lifetime expire?!?!?

I guess what I'm asking really is how much value do you think that warranty still holds after 14 years?

If the powertrain blows up tomorrow, just what exactly do you think they will do? They won't replace the truck with a new one. Will they pay for a new motor? No...they will pay for a similar year motor with similar mileage from a "auto recycling center" aka a junkyard.

No money in there for the labor to install it either. The same goes for the rest of the "powertrain"....trans, differential. transfer case...everything is pro-rated according to the mileage.

At some point, as the mileage keeps getting higher, the amount the warranty will actually pay gets smaller and smaller. Eventually it will zero out..........

It holds just fine.

No they won't give me a new truck. LOL

The LPT specifies new parts.

All labor is included.

In order to keep the LPT warranty I have to have the truck inspected by a dealer every 5 years. In 2019 they sent me a reminder. It's a 60 day window from the day of purchase. I have it in my phone calendar. I've no idea if they send me another reminder this November/December.

My understanding is if the repair exceeds the NADA value, they just cut you a check for the NADA value. The warranty is voided at that point.
