Mrs and I went to see it last night. It was equally powerful and disturbing. But for what its worth I would highly recommend this.

I haven’t seen it, so I dont know how “political” it gets, but on the surface, I don’t understand why there is so much controversy over it’s existence.

The star is a right-winger, who is buddies with some QAnon conspiracy guys. QAnon has a persistent theme of an underground child sex slavery. So whether or not it's a true story, whether or not it's strong material, there's a group of people on the Left who have decided to hate it.

It doesn't seem like a movie I'd enjoy. Equal parts 'Tears of the Sun' and '8mm' make for kind of a downer flick.

In spite of the subject matter I would not call it a downer flick. There are actually some really uplifting parts

Because the Bidenites don't want more scrutiny about the border. Trafficking in this country is has fast tracked because of the border, or lack thereof

Cuz Trump broke them.

this...

the left is sick of hearing about this mythical Q guy who has been proven wrong and wrong again. to have a star of the movie associated with that group leads people to distrust what is being said in the movie.

Its too bad that we can't discuss this without trying to make everything political. The fact is that in 2021 missing children have decreased about 30% from 2020. You also have to ask what did the pandemic do to the numbers as well.

that said. anyone caught messing or trafficking kids needs to have their dick cut off and thrown in prison for life. dont give a shit who it is.

It's a hallmark of the all politics to rinse and repeat, ad nauseum, until everyone is sick and tired of the same messaging. For the Left, they'll never allow themselves to forget that Trump was a womanizer, that Q Anon had unfounded conspiracies about Democrats fucking kids in pizza parlor basements or that some Republican tried to gerrymander. It'll get beaten into all of their heads repeatedly, and 5x as much around election time.

Sadly, I think we're going in the other direction. More kids are being trafficked, and less enforcement is being done because so much of it is tied up in illegal immigration, victimization politics and defund-the-police election tactics. There's a really creepy mission to decriminalize child porn and even pedophilia at the extremes, which is getting more popular by day, and can only ever have a greater impact on child trafficking also.

I read up on the guy the movie's based on, and his mission and he's clearly a hero. It just doesn't make me want to watch a movie about such a subject. Isn't there another Marvel movie on the horizon, Kipp?

The movie got made in like 2017 or 2018 but got shelved due to standard Hollywood studio type money bullshit. But the star, Jim Caviezel, since then has fallen down the far right conspiracy wormhole with QAnon and other types of bullshit. The movie itself is about child trafficking, which exists but garbage like QAnon takes the kernels of truth and pushes it to ridiculous extremes. So you've got a movie with subject matter and its star with conspiracy theorists more than happy to use it as more evidence to push their nonsense. Further, the same far right types are also using the fact that it got shelved by typical Hollywood stuff as "proof and evidence" as some kind of sinister plot that "The Left" (dun dun dun) and "Hollywood Elites you know who we mean winkwink" were trying to keep the public from seeing the movie. So now you've got a reaction from conservative types thinking they have to see this movie to stick to the Left.

I have no interest in the movie. I've read reviews since they pop up on the entertainment sites I read and the general sense I get is its a fine movie. Not good but not bad either but given the subject matter, probably would have been better off being an actual documentary.

Saw it today and it was very good. First two sort of plots/schemes by the main character were more interesting to watch playout and how he was going to do it than the final one but the end was still good as well.

There is also nothing at all political about it. All the hoopla over it leading into it you would think a plot point was exposing a democrat politician of child sex trafficking or something but there is nothing even close to that in it.
