Big 12 thread

Im thinkin UCFacts,

I like the new gets for the Big12 TBH, I think the conference is gonna be fun to watch unfold this year and moving forward.
I think much like us, they’ll have growing pains. This is a step up in competition. Also you can discount the travel. I understand they traveled a little before, but they also had away games in Florida. That’s not happening anymore.
I can see it happening TBH, If Brown loses big to Penn State ( very good chance ) then drops the Brawl, the natives are going to be out for blood. Then its Texas Tech, TCU, OSU, UH (Holgs)...
Brown might be gone before Halloween if the pieces fall into place and that may well send WVU into a bad bad tailspin. It may NOT happen but I could see WVU havin a rough season with their schedule.
I just don’t think we’ll finish behind every newbie. Mostly for the reasons I have above. BYU and Houston travel probably didn’t get worse and if it did it’s not by much. But Cincy and UCFs most certainly did. They all might have the talent but doing it week in and week out is the biggest challenge.

For Brown, he absolutely needs to beat Pitt. No one is expecting to at PSU, but beating Pitt is the first priority. If he beats Pitt and gets to 6 wins, he’s likely safe.

Travel could be a shock to the system for some of them. Orlando to Provo is a trek. But they can all suck an egg if they whine about it. Won’t get any sympathy from me. My guys just lost our three closest conference games with UNT, UTSA and Rice…if you call 600 miles “close”.

That said, football travel isn’t really a problem. It is a HUGE issue for the other team sports.

normally when a G5 program graduates into a P5 conference..there is usually setbacks due to the week in, week out competition vs talented teams that their former conference didn't have.

TCU got beat up the first couple of years and they had a lot of success coming into the conference from the MWC (even won a rosebowl vs WI)

I don’t think football travel will mess with em too much, at the end of the day it’s a little longer on a flight once in a week, no biggie for 18-20+ year olds.
Now basketball, b2b travel games.. little different animal imo.

I 100% it’s there choice and shouldn’t be an excuse. But gone are the days of 1 or two instate away games and staying primarily on the east coast. Christ they even go to Boise this year OOC. I think this will be a wake up call.

I thought Brett Yormark SOLD his conference very well in his opening statements.
Solid job all things considered

Yeah man he was terrific.. He didn't throw shade to UT or ou as well.. I can tell he isn't happy with the media guys looking like slobs

Yep, gave Texas and OU their props and sold THOSE brands for this final year for their (Big12’s) venues.
Gonna be interesting to see if the PAC can match it during its media days, one HAS to think he was workin it to potential unhappy PAC members

Ha never mind that OU has twice as many Big 12 titles as all of the rest of the teams combined.
yeah i know.. 11/13 past CCG games had one of us in there.. granted it's been y'all the most

Sark was def talking real confident today.. He held back a little, guess to not rub the Big12 commissioner to badly.. My favorite part was when a tech reporter asked him how big is the season finale vs them going to be since it's the closure of a rivalry... Sark had this look like I hope it's important because it means they have a shot at the CCG.. lol nothing to do with a one sided "rivalry"

Man’s got a point I mean, Bob Stoops ain’t walkin through that door and Sarks prob drunk.
:ranger:
lol they aren't going to get as much attention next year.. if you were watching..only time reporters were awake were for Brett's opening statement...then for Sark..

All the power to them in the future..hope they can recruit just as good as they have been

I still can't believe that texas didn't take advantage of OU's situation last year and was at least one of the teams in the ccg.
