2024 Recruiting Thread

I think the problem is that we attract them to even be considered as major contenders in the first place. We constantly have top 5 classes and constantly compete for titles. I think it's far more important that we establish coaching consistency and identity on defense rather than worry about how many 5* kids we get. If we're being honest, considering how lacking we've been in those departments the last 3 years, I'm pumped to get any big-name defenders over other programs right now.

OL recruiting is more worrisome than DL still though

We REALLY need to land Brandon Baker.

Ian Moore is definitely OSU Caliber and I think one of the Armstrong twins. But the other twin and Nave are major projects. I know OL is the hardest position to project from HS to college though.

You had your chance last year and you let Bama get him. Then this year you inexplicably let us get him.

Losing Scott was a big loss given where he's from. Freeman hasn't really upped the recruiting since he's been hired.

I feel like OL recruiting will be fine, and I definitely like what I'm hearing about the Simmons kid we got from SDSU. 7 of the 9 offensive linemen drafted in the first two rounds of the draft weren't elite HS prospects, so I'm not as concerned about those recruiting stars.

I won't lie, I had no idea Scott was even a remote possibility until he committed. Recruiting is a wild ride, so I don't get too bent out of shape when surprises happen. I think if Freeman can pull off a solid 10 win season with some quality ranked wins and a good postseason showing, the recruiting will definitely pick up.

Without that type of season, he might start next year on the hot seat. BK won 10+ games in 6 of the last 7 seasons, but could never get a top 5 class. So on a positive he's recruiting as good as BK without having his results, but the results need to come.

He's got the benefit of being a former player and fairly big-time recruit himself who probably is very smooth during in-home visits. I still think he succeeds at ND, it's just a matter of how much.

Yeah, I think he'll be successful too. Hope CJ Carr is the real deal. Would be the first big time QB since Clausen to actually be good in college.

I think they brought him in to supplement missing on the other LBers we wanted in this class.
You mean KVA? Can't think of any other LB we missed on, and the class isn't even closed yet. Maybe he'll come in under the radar and kill it, we'll see.

Yes. Doesn't look like they are really pursuing any other LBers right now, maybe they'll add a surprise one late though.

This kid moved up his commitment date after his LSU visit. Looks like once a texas lean is now an LSU lean.
