2023 season thread

Suarez shitting the bed is gonna make the top 3 in our pool be in a super tight points battle
Well, top two now I guess with McDowell having problems.

Hate to pull for it, but if Allmendinger was ever gonna have an issue, today would be the best possible time for me

Blow, McDowell

Another snoozer.

Are Larson cements himself as the dirtiest driver in the field

Apparently Ford has made Hamlin an offer that he's having trouble saying no to. That would be hilarious to see Toyota gain Legacy only to lose 2 top 10 drivers in Hamlin and Reddick and another top 15 driver in Bubba.

Should Hamlin leave JGR, where does the 3rd charter come from? Rick Ware? Live Fast? Does Almirola or Preece leave SHR and Hamlin take their place?

Rumors are SHR could be selling a charter. Justin Haley’s uncle owns a charter currently used for the 77, and since Haley is going to Ford next year, that’s another possibility too

Sounds like Almirola isn't coming back and there's no money for Preece. Could Tony be selling the 2 charters and his stake in SHR? He seems to be more invested in SRX and NHRA now. Perfect time for Jr to step in with an established team. I'm sure SHR is looking for another manufacturer based not only on their performance, but also the fact that Ford is looking to 23XI. Tony even mentioned they would look for another manufacturer in the Berry announcement press conference if Ford wasn't providing them with the support they needed.

If Hamlin does move to Ford, that pushes JHN to JGR, I'm sure. That's probably why we haven't had an announcement of him to the 42. So many dominos are waiting to drop should Hamlin leave Toyota.

SHR needs to downsize. Harvick is the only thing going for that team and he’s retiring.

Cut back to two with Berry and Briscoe, maybe resources won’t be spread so thin.

Tony has his other interests and Gene has an F1 team.

JRM could be coming to cup, Andretti has also been rumored

One of the most successful truck teams of the last decade, GMS is shitting down after this season.

Anything Jimmie Johnson touches turns to shit. Letting him buy into that team was criminal

His legacy is already tarnished beyond repair as far as I’m concerned

Johnson doesn't have anything to do with that, does he? I thought he only owned part of the Cup operation?

Same company ain’t it?

Even if that’s the case, he took a pretty good new team and turned them into the Chevy version of RWR this year.

He doesn’t have the personality for the tv booth, but he doesn’t need to be anywhere near a team’s operations.

Chevy hasn't been giving them any support, that's part of the reason for the lack of results.

Probably because Jimmie Johnson decided to go to Toyota.

Jimmie is gonna go down as one of the worst team owners of all time. Cale Yarborough’s bargain bin team at least won one race

According to Jordan Bianchi, it's all but a done deal that SHR is selling 2 charters, where they will get $40m to $50m for them.
Jordan and Hamlin definitely have the funds for that.

SHR moving to Chevy in 2025 definitely has legs.

JRM has already signed a driver to replace Berry in the 8, and it's a driver in the Xfinity series. Hemric or Alfredo seem like they would be a fit since they seem to have funding. No one else really jumps out at me. Maybe Sammy Smith since there is already a connection there with the Pilot sponsorship.

Hocevar has multiple offers in all 3 series, will go to #77 Cup if Dillon doesn't return. If I was Hocevar, I'd take an Xfinity ride before the Spire Cup ride.

Kurt makes it official.

Womp womp, Gibbs loses his playoff chance thanks to his teammate

I've missed the first 2 hours of this race because of a STUPID preseason game between the Jets and Giants
