Pre-week 1 upset alert

Fresno State over Purdue

Not a lot of great possibilities

Strongly disagree.

The matchups are definitely not flashy, but a lot of favorites actually have a solid chance of crapping their pants and getting their asses kicked in front of God and everybody IMO.

Minny, Miami FL, UNC, NC St, Liberty, ISU, Cal, etc.

I'd say Washington vs Boise State is a upset alert

Maybe. UW might be sleepwalking because their preseason hype and the whole realignment thing.

Illinois on upset alert against Toledo as well.

Them too. Although Illinois isn’t used to being good at football and Toledo is kind of the Boise St of the MAC.

I ‘member a few years ago when Illinois almost lost to MTSU. That was fun.

Toledo looks like a very good MAC team.

A P5 team, even most big-name teams, having trouble with Toledo really shouldn’t surprise anyone anymore imo.

Miami FL is going to STEAMROLL Miami Ohio and i'm all for it. Miami Ohio especially their QB talking all kinds of shit about how they are going to show "who the real Miami is!"

Miami OH was a fucking 6-7 MAC team last year and replacing their whole OL. That QB is stupid to run his mouth.

Not sure how big of a upset UNC losing to South Carolina would be. I guess UNC is a 2.5 point favorite but that's a pretty even matchup IMO.

Minnesota is a complete unknown on offense. I would not be shocked if Nebraska wins. But I still expect the Gophers will get the W

I expect Uconn will regress, don't think NC State loses there. Being a home game is about all Uconn has going for them.

Dont see Iowa State losing to Northern Iowa, even with all the gambling crap. I'd say Iowa has a better chance of flopping against Utah State.

Cal will be quite a bit improved this year I think. North Texas really isn't that great. Cal will win IMO.

A few I got my eye on & why:

1. WVU at Penn State - Game has a good history DOMINATED by PSU and WVU has always hated losing to them. WVU will return their OLine, RB, and will likely start a mobile QB. They will want to run the ball early and often, IF they have success then that will eat even more of the clock (new rules chew it up some too). If the defense can keep PSU’s new QB in check, he may make a mistake or two and WVU MIGHT be able to pull one off here.

2. Clemson at Duke - Has Clemson gotten a lot better than last year? Have they really? Because Duke was a solid team last year and return that QB. Conference opponent, on the road to open up..maybe we see something here :noidea:

3. Coastal Carolina at UCLA - Chip better have em ready, they lost a lot from last years squad and Coastal can be a headache on a good day.

I've seen a couple sports writers pick Florida over Utah...

Utah starting QBs status (Still recovering from the Rose Bowl injury) is still up in their air for the Florida game. Same with their top receiving weapon. He's "questionable" as well.

That would easily open the door for Florida.

Texas Tech could well be looking at Oregon coming to Lubbock in week 2 instead of concentrating on the 5,280 feet Cowboys. McGuire has his work cut out for him in keeping them from doing such. Expectations are high in Lubbock and not taking care of business this week could throw a wet blanket on that.

A Big 10 team typically gets upset by a MAC team at some point OOC.

Toledo vs Illinois is looking like by far their best chance this year.

No MAC opponents for Northwestern or Rutgers sadly

and Indiana gets Akron who is awful.
We’re going up to Chitown and kick some Nerdwestern butt.

I’m a homer, I will go with BSU upsetting UW
and Florida over Utah

Top 25 teams that are on upset alert:

#14 Utah vs. Florida - Utah has injury issues and Florida is better than they are being given credit for right now.
#24 Tulane vs. South Alabama - South Alabama is a very good team and the SBC is not far off talent wise from the AAC.

I'm not including UNC vs. South Carolina because I don't think anyone would really call that an upset if South Carolina wins.

Didn’t know that.

Meh. I’d still count it. UNC’s ranked, SCar isn’t. UNC has gotten a little preseason attention (their QB mostly), barely anyone’s said a word about SCar.

I expect Uconn will regress, don't think NC State loses there. Being a home game is about all Uconn has going for them.

Jim Mora’s a good HC and NC St lost a lot of production from last year, incl their #1 & #2 QB’s.

Dont see Iowa State losing to Northern Iowa, even with all the gambling crap.

Kinda feels like UNI’s due.
