According to this guy at least. NC State must have told UNC to go fuck themselves.

yeah i read something of the effect that if fsu/clemson and unc leave.. espn would still be on the hook paying the ACC members since it would not drop in membership numbers below from what the original contract was for.

fuck my life fml GIF

I read the same. I think its pretty funny that the threats, bitching, and griping by FSU could have helped sway the vote to add teams for that very reason.

I legitimately don't' understand how SMU is sneaking into all of this? And why are they adding an odd number of teams? How are they getting invites over the remaining Pac teams?

They're joining for free. Meaning the money they would get from broadcast will instead be distributed to current members. They have a group of super wealthy donors that agreed to foot the bill for athletic operating costs just to get in.

For quite a few years. For whatever reason they were desperate to get an invite.

So 9 years of no revenue for SMU. The current ACC teams pocket the money.

Yeah, I understand that, but that won't last too long, then they become dead weight.

I remember when some pud in NC wrote a story about how Pitt and Syracuse didn't belong in the ACC because they weren't "coastal" cities, ignoring the fact that Chapel Hill, Winston Salem, Raleigh, and Atlanta aren't exactly port cities.

Children today aren't taught geography apparently.

This is how the Methodist get fucked.

College football is becoming even more fucked up. Chase the almighty dollar and watch while it chops your head off.

IMO, this is a very stupid move. And why all the love for fucking SMU? What the fuck do they bring to the table except an empty hand?
Hell if I know. Its cal and stanford that I think are more laughable. SMU has deep pockets. Maybe in a bigger conference they will be willing to put in the resources to be a legitimate program. But I really doubt it.

Can't wait for the highly anticipated Syracuse @ Cal game.
